Due Dissidence segment
A majority of the Dem Party will never get behind Medicare For All; they will be ACA or bust. But SOME Dems are coming around to Medicare For All; and clearly Indies will prefer it, and even MAGAs would prefer it over ACA, since there will no longer be going “Please sir, may we have more?” to the Insurance companies.
Perhaps by limiting liability in exchange for reducing expensive overkill testing (simultaneously lowering the bar for medical disbarment…) could be a way to make it more palatable to fiscal conservatives. When the lawyers in Congress devised ACA, reducing liability litigation? That was the LAST thing congress people wanted to hear!
A problem with Medicare is Medicare fraud; most practices pad claims, rationalizing it needs to be done to insure full coverage. But we’ve run ACA up the flagpole, and it often does not work. It’s the reason for the extraordinary supportive reaction by some for Mangione. If we need to go to the mat again for healthcare like we did with the last shutdown, it should be for a real victory for working class people: Medicare For All.
Excuse me while I repeat myself: if we had an alliance of Independents committed to that and other pro-worker issues, it would stand a better chance of getting passed. [How’s about it Bernie? Had enough??]
And Trump Repubs, look at the bright side: it would kill ACA…
