More harm than good for our movement?

I think @eclecticmisc and @drea_m_r_76 have the right take. anyone is able to sign but we don’t actively seek or promote endorsements from people who might be detrimental for the movement like matt gaetz.

josh hawley while having similar politics as gaetz and in my opinion is not a great person could still be a positive for what we are trying to accomplish and might be an acceptable person to pursue and promote an endorsement from. Especially to help balance out the many left wing endorsers we have picked up. though his encouragement of jan 6. rioters does make me question whether it’d be a good decision or not

As we grow and expand and bring in more right-leaning members, we are going to have to accommodate for people who may not align with our progressive ethos but do align more with our populist ethos.

Which really, the type of populism we are aiming for is progressive, just don’t remind them that it is.

Nick, I really appreciate your ideas and am always happy to hear your views. I agree we should refrain from people that could possibly sabotage or derail what we are trying to accomplish. Last night’s meeting was the first time in ages that I felt that we can accomplish this Populist plank. Thank you, Jack

Maggie, thank you for your hard work. Last night was a major step forward and I am glad to be a small part of that. I know that many of our members are screaming for positive change and what I saw last night makes me feel we can accomplish this. Thank you , Jack

I was so happy to be in your group last night! I’m sorry I was no help with the computer stuff; that’s really not my strong suit. It was a terrific meeting, and I also left feeling empowered and ready to make positive changes. I agree with everything you wrote except for one thing. You are not a small part of this; you play a huge role, and everyone respects and appreciates you so much!

Maggie, has anyone produced a template for the endorsement screening process? I’m thinking a short checklist with our criteria for deciding who’s signature to endorse? If not, I’d be happy to produce one.

I haven’t made one and I doubt Kara has approached it yet – so have at it!

Andrea , thank you so much for your support. I get frustrated on the tech side of using the computer. I didn’t want to hold our discussion back because of my problem. I think next time I’ll dispense clicking on google docs and someone can read the agenda out loud. I too was jazzed about the town hall. Finally , some positive movement. Cheers , Jack

This is such a great post! I can understand why some feel like it’s necessary to reach out to the Right, so to speak; it can come across as counterintuitive when doing so makes them essentially turn their backs on the Left. While that may not be the intention, it’s probably time to listen if everyone keeps telling you the same thing. Don’t get me wrong, I think it is essential to stand up for the rights of all people (even the bigots), but I don’t want to share a Southern Comfort and Cola with one. Regarding the government and media, the Left needs to get their house in order before relying on the Right to become trusted allies. After watching the beginning part of the main show yesterday, I was disheartened and disappointed. The infighting has to stop! I think the Democrats are doing nothing because they believe Trump and Co. will become so unpopular they’ll win by landslides like last time. This makes it all the more critical for Progressive Media to get over their shit and work together to help get us out of this mess. This is best done slowly at first by getting a handful together (who are not so heated) and growing from there. Unfortunately, I think Cenk and Ana have shown us numerous times that they are not up for this necessary step. Perhaps looking elsewhere to start a Progressive Media Alliance would help get our house in order so we can work with the Right but not have to depend on them. :woman_shrugging:

I definitely wouldn’t depend on them as I trust them only as far as I can throw them but a tentative alliance on issues may benefit the country more.

The infighting going on will get us now where. I’m no one to suggest anyone change their format but maybe more news and a little less editorial would help here.

A little more supporting the issues and candidates and giving those good people some positive press would benefit the country more than the infighting caused by the different ways people want to attack the problems we are having in the country.

I totally agree! The focus has to be strictly News (or fun stuff), focusing on policies, issues, experts, and politicians. If I were a candidate or expert, I would think hard before going on a show with a lot of drama attached to it. I think the viewers really want to hear from more experts and politicians and less opinion and drama. That is just my take.
