Just bumping this topic back to the top
Whew it’s been a minute. I’m going to be more focused on this thread because I think it’s important.
Ch 7 maneuvering
Key point
7.22. “He will conquer who has learnt the artifice of deviation. Such is the art of maneuvering.”
More:
"7.12: We cannot enter into alliances until we are acquainted with the designs of our neighbors.
7.13: We are not fit to lead an army on the march unless we are familiar with the face of the country–its mountains and forests, its pitfalls and precipices, its marshes and swamps.
7.14: We shall be unable to turn natural advantages to account unless we make use of local guides.
7:15 In war, practice dissimulation, and you will succeed. Move only if there is a real advantage to be gained.
7.16 Whether to concentrate or to divide your troops must be decided by circumstances.
7.17 Let your rapidity be that of the wind, your compactness be that of the forest.
7.18. In raiding and plundering be like fire, is immovability like a mountain.
7.19. Let your plans be dark and impenetrable as night, and when you move, fall like a thunderbolt.
7.21 Ponder and deliberate before you make a move.
7.31 To be near the goal while the enemy is still far from it, to wait at ease while the enemy is toiling and struggling, to be well-fed while the enemy is famished:–this is the art of husbanding one’s strength."
I think the art of maneuvering applies to political action as well. This requires a coherent strategy and organization. It starts at the top and trickles down to the foot soldiers. We should be studying the tactics of other revolutions which brought about national healthcare and national education and learn from them, even the ones that failed. Knowing where to go is pointless if we don’t know how to get there and don’t know where the pitfalls are. Coherent strategy is everything!
7.14 talks about “local guides” I think we should employ people who have experience winning campaigns which have achieved national healthcare in other countries. This may be somewhat controversial but I do think we need their guidance. They’re experience is crucial to formulating good strategy.
We have compromised ourselves into a corner and now we’re forced to tell the oligarchy “NO! We will no longer be your slaves! Enough is enough.” We must be calculating, swift, and effective in our actions.
