Spirit In the Sky-Norman Greenbaum
image

A funny backstory to this song: Greenbaum’s parents, being Jewish, found it offensive that he was performing a song that tipped a hat to Christian protocols. They asked him why he was doing it. He explained to them: ā€œBut I make money performing itā€¦ā€ They asked him how much.

After hearing the amount, they said: ā€œYou keep performing that song thenā€¦ā€

@Galphar would you/tyt prefer these posted on the discord? Or want both even? I can adapt if need be  just like this set up more

Doesn’t matter really which you post them on. I’d love to convince them to merge these forums with the TYT Discord and bring the 2 communities together but that is a way different topic LOL

Thatd be great!! Wicked idea. Maybe if they could figure out how to add the whole discord set up onto their TYT ap. Cenk did say on the show that people have been using these places instead of like twitter and all that which could earn TYT a dicktonne of money if they could figure out how to create their own social media type platform.

I’ve heard of Discord because of my Gen-Z kids, but I had no idea what it was. Then I heard it spoken about in the TYT chats and discussions, and I still have no idea what it is. Hey, I’m old! :joy:

As long as the public can still see a topic here without a login being required, I’m fine with it (in effect: a read before you register to sound off option…) I am sick and tired of registering for anything where you just want to take in the ideas from a site first; the Internet should not be converted to a surveillance tool. Deeper Shade of Soul-Urban Dance Squad
image

Some Ray Baretto sampling…

Surprise, surprise
So you rub your eyes
Never knew uds, so cool as ice?
Hear the vibes man, they’ll stupefy
Ducks - categorize us as hard criers
That’s a lie, we know why we’re occupiers
No blurs, but obscure styles, these are higher
Profiles are low - as soon as we go
As a breeze straight from a deeper shade of soul

Five souls play the head role
Excite the middle between the two poles
The globe rotates from new to old
Uds take both to reach the souls
Narrowmind clydes, still holding a pose
What we pour 'n flow when we come close
To the contrary, they pinch their earlobes
They call it rogue-rock, but it’s a deeper shade of soul

We blend everything, with the color of skin
Under the skin, we’re in like Flynn
Ducks stare at us, as soon as we begin
To innovate the frame of thought they’re in
Again, music’s got to do with only feeling
Not where you’re from, it’s ā€˜can’ they yield in
The stuff that we rock and what we’re giving
A piece of the mind connects the rhythm

Someone should write a book of ā€œpoemsā€ but its just these type of mesmerising songs lyrics. So many deep heart felt, truth speaking, ā€œoratoryā€ and congregating lyrics all types of people have sang and spoken over the years that are hidden in styles/genres of music that others dont/wont listen to.

Monkey Man-Rolling Stones
image

They have the Clapton/Layla riff going on with the piano towards the end…

I’m a fleabit peanut monkey
And all my friends are junkies
That’s not really true

I’m a cold Italian pizza
I could use a lemon squeezer
What you do?

But I’ve been bit and I’ve been tossed around
By every she-rat in this town
Have you babe?

But I am just a monkey man
I’m glad you are a monkey woman too

I was bitten by a boar
I was gouged and I was gored
But I pulled on through

Yeah, I’m a sack of broken eggs
I always have an unmade bed
Don’t you?

Well I hope we’re not too messianic
Or a trifle too satanic
But we love to play the blues
But well I am just a monkey man
I’m glad you are a monkey woman too
Monkey woman too babe

I’m a monkey man
I’m a monkey man
I’m a monkey man
I’m a monkey man
I’m a monkey
I’m a monkey
I’m a monkey
I’m a monkey
Monkey, monkey
Monkey

Monkey
I’m a monkey

Can’t You Hear Me Knocking-Rolling Stones

One of Jagger’s earliest vocals emulating a black street guy (similar to the later song Shattered on Some Girls -as opposed to a black blues singer, which was his early stock and trade…) It has that 70s rock jazz thing in the last part of the song (like Low Spark of High Heeled Boys/Traffic…), and the ending notes make for a great resolution…

A great song can be ruined when they dont know how to end it hey

Alittle story from my childhood.
My dad used to do go on 4zzz radio here in brissy AUS atleast once a week beginning in the mid 90s, to do a punk rock/ local music show and i would go in with him for years. My parents bought me a few eminem CDs around the early 2000s and i brang them in pleading to no avail for dad to let me play some. He needed to run to the toilet not thinking i would be that ballsy, i turned off his music and quickly chucked an album on (im 99% sure it was these songs) and before the second song finished a few managers from upstairs had run down and surrounded me saying heaps of people are calling in complaints  i think dad just found it hilarious but i was not aloud to do it again :stop_sign::stop_sign::stop_sign:
