AARP Push for Build Back Better

I received the following communication from AARP which gives me hope (well - a tiny bit anyway) that we can win this battle.

It’s now the Senate’s turn to vote and help lower prescription drug prices. The House recently passed the Build Back Better Act. It includes critical provisions such as allowing Medicare to negotiate some drug prices, limiting co-pays for insulin, capping seniors’ prescription drug costs in Medicare, and limiting drug price increases. It’s thanks to your emails and calls, James, that these provisions, which will benefit Americans 50+, are included in the bill.

But the fight isn’t over. Your senators are returning from the holiday break, and RIGHT NOW they’re discussing which policies will remain in the Build Back Better proposal. This is our best opportunity to make sure the Senate hears us loud and clear: PASS the Build Back Better Act and lower prescription drug prices NOW.

Frank, call Senator Sinema at (844) 641-0860. Tell them: Give Medicare the right to negotiate lower drug prices in the Build Back Better Act.

Call (844) 641-0860 NOW — then click here to report your call

If this bill becomes law, the impact on AARP members and Americans 50+ will be tremendous:

Out-of-pocket costs for Medicare Part D prescription drugs would be capped at $2,000 per year, and prices for some insulin would be capped at $35 per month.
Drug companies that raise their prices higher than inflation would be penalized.
The Senate will head off for its winter break soon — so they are making their decisions now on this vote. As our senators negotiate the fate of this bill that would impact millions of Americans, it’s time to make our voices heard so the Build Back Better Act can be signed into law.

Let’s urge the Senate to get it done, James:

Call Senator Sinema at (844) 641-0860.

Then click here to report your call.

We’re so close to the finish line!

Thank you,

– The AARP Grassroots Advocacy team
