Has anyone else noticed how some left-wing media figures repeatedly emphasize being attacked by MAGA? While it’s important to spotlight real threats and bad actors, I sometimes wonder if these narratives are also being used to build audience loyalty or provoke emotional reactions.
I feel conflicted because I want to trust them, but at times it seems almost too convenient—especially in our deeply divided world, where emotions can drive both solidarity and funding.
Am I being overly critical, or do others feel this might sometimes lean more towards performance than genuine concern?
How do we ensure accountability in these spaces without dismissing the reality of the issues?
What do you mean by attacked by maga ?
I have wondered the same thing though about certain channels when they mention it.
On one hand people are apperently scared of trump and his followers, but then theyll publicly post videos even using their real names. Like Franny and Farron for example (love them both) like to say how dangerous maga is etc, do they reallllyyyyy believe it? I 100% doubt say jews in WW2 would try to educate people on how dangerous nazis were considering the real risks.
Maga are dangerous im not trying to undermine that risk either just ranting.
It does remind me of the whole “fighting the deepstate” BS… getting upset when you fight again billionaires and they dont just pay a homeless person to kill you, pretty well off.
If you think about it; the word MAGA is a derogatory term on the Left. We NEVER use it except as an insult. It is up there with Nazi, Fascist, and Orange Hitler. And when you watch a lot of “Left” shows now it is nothing but attacks on the Right or anyone that says the Right can be reasoned with(Cenk & Ana). The “Elite” have finally gotten what they have wanted with the Left constantly attacking the Right and vice versa. And as evidenced by the attacks now on TYT; if you even try to say some on the “other side” are good and can be worked with then you are a traitor. Sorry, but I guess I’m a traitor then but the Far Left probably always thought there can’t be a Progressive in KY.
This reminds me of a scene from Starship Troopers where kids stomp on cockroaches to show their hatred for the alien ‘threat.’ My mom pointed out something that’s stuck with me ever since: those cockroaches were Earthlings. The kids were literally being taught to hate their own fellow Earthlings as part of the propaganda.
I’m starting to be convinced that we’ve all become so entrenched in our own narratives that we’re too far gone to bridge the divides. It feels like the collective ‘we’ have our heads so deeply buried in the sand, clinging to our own versions of reality, that it will take something massive to shake us out of it. And honestly, that possibility terrifies me more than anything else.
How do we pull ourselves back from that brink? How do we start listening to each other again—beyond the rhetoric, beyond the fear—before it’s too late? Because if we don’t, it feels like we’re setting ourselves up for something we might not recover from.
And the truth is, my entire 45 years have been spent under corporate rule. I’ve watched people act like it wasn’t happening, even though art has been screaming the truth all along. It’s surreal to realize how much we’ve ignored while the warning signs were right in front of us.
We do our best. We strive to make the world better for ourselves, and others. We protect ourselves from those who would wish us harm. We share our insights, wisdom, and lived experience with those who would hear us.
We must always remember that we have only a little influence upon others, and we can only hope that our example, and our shared struggles inspire others to come to reason.
After living through the first term and witnessing January 6th they could very well be authentic. But they also need clicks so it’s probably 50/50 on the authentic/performance scale. How I stay away from it is simply not to watch them. I’m a single 43/m with no kids. I have the time to delve into the media if I want to but I choose not to watch them. It’s not good for my mental health. I read my local newspaper and watch the financial news and that’s pretty much it. And I’m happier.
