Basic Human Rights

Unfortunately I don’t see these topics discussed enough. The fear of the weaponization or possible weaponization of these tactics against immigrants is so disturbing. Something must be done.

I think we should lay down what we believe the fundamental rights of every human being are. I’m going to make a list, feel free to add to it BUT be prepared to defend it.

  1. Healthcare
  2. Education
  3. Shelter with furniture
  4. Adequate heat and air conditioning
  5. Clean Air
  6. Clean water
  7. Food
  8. Clothing
  9. Safe working conditions.
  10. Freedom of speech
  11. Personal safety

A livable wage and Internet access.

Thank you for your response! I want to pose a question. Let’s assume all the rights I listed above were granted. Wouldn’t that change the nature of going to work? Right now we work to buy those things. If we already had them, what would we need to earn wages for?

I think that people will still be motivated to work, but they won’t have medical or school debt, and they won’t have to declare bankruptcy or create a situation where they live off of credit and can’t get out of the cycle of debt. The economy will flourish because, with this, people can travel, afford good food, and better enjoy life. This will help lower healthcare costs as people can now afford healthful choices and habits. I think, too, that most people wouldn’t need help with shelter and furniture, adequate heating and air conditioning, food, and clothing, and we could easily afford to help those who do. I also believe that when the government helps its citizens afford a decent standard of living, it diminishes things like depression and an us vs. them mentality and bolsters community and a desire to live up to one’s potential.

Nobody should have to Work. We should have OCCUPATIONS that we want to do not JOBS that we have to do just because we want to be able to survive

True! Jobs are the new slavery.

I’m envisioning a type of eutopia depicted in the Star Trek series, where people no longer have material want and the driving force of humanity is to increase our knowledge, quality of life, and understanding of our existence.

I posted this over in TYT Discord earlier today:

I’d LOVE to ask a MAGAt or even just a tRump voter what they think about Society in the Federation in Star Trek. Are they ok with people all having replicators and robots/androids basically doing everything and people only having to “work” in occupations they are passionate about?

I’m all for that!

To accomplish this, we have to evaluate what are the things required to make it happen. Food, clothing…and yes, AC, are all basic needs. Forcing someone to work just to acquire their basic needs is an avenue to the current form of economic slavery we all suffer from.

Utopia sounds like a beautiful dream. I believe there is a bit of utopian in all of us here in these forums. The question is who is this utopia being established for?

I apologize for this coming off as a rant but I mean let’s face it and call it out as it really is. Project 2025 is all about protecting White Majoritarianism in America. The group with the most voters wins…That’s democracy in “our”America–not these smoke and mirrors ideals they present and never live up to.

Fear of not being able to compete…being displaced, losing white privilege have brought about directives like capital punishment and forced sterilization by MAGA to protect the white majoritarian majority which to me is a form of genocide that is quietly being committed and is not being dealt with by society.

And we haven’t even mentioned the abortion ban which is disguised behind Christian values. In Idaho, for instance, about 70% of all abortions are performed on non-Hispanic, white women.

Pardon Jan6ers, alarmingly high incarceration rates in red states and gerrymandered districts are all for votes and numbers. No one is dealing with this.

This would be considered old news.

Agreed… hence they stopped talking about it but it’s a silent genocide nonetheless…

Art - should it be desired. Both the opportunity to make it and have it in their environment. (Where art includes all art forms)
