Inexcusable; a news drop to try and make Harris’ Governor run more credible.
She had TWO options, and she exercised neither:
She could have said to Biden that running under those constraints would be unwinnable, and suggested it go to an Open Convention.
She could have said to Biden: sorry, no. I have to part ways on a few issues. That will just be some tough shit. And if she was afraid to run on issues against his wishes, how could she have run against some of the wishes of other powerful world leaders?
So the recent book, discussing the Biden to Harris transition, and there being no Open Convention, appears to be as simple as this: Harris pestered Biden for an emphatic endorsement; he said I’ll endorse you, but only if you support all my policies.
So she could have refused to go along with that. It was her choice; SHE blew it, and nobody else. Biden did not have a gun to her head. He had an unqualified endorsement, but anybody considering how big a loser taking ALL of his positions would be would have passed on that offer. So all we then had was a rerun of the 2016 strategy: Trump is so bad, you HAVE TO vote for me!
This news drop reeks of a desperate attempt to make Harris look like she has any credibility for a governor’s run. She had TWO clear options and blew both. She could’ve told Biden straight up running under these conditions isn’t just a lost cause, it’s a disaster, and pushed for an Open Convention. Or, if she had any backbone, she could’ve said ‘sorry, I can’t ride this train anymore.’ But no, she cowered and stayed in line. If she couldn’t even stand up to Biden on a few basic issues, how in the world would she have the guts to go toe-to-toe with the global power players? This whole charade proves just how weak the establishment really is.
Can we please just forget about both of these abject failures?? Cenk: please don’t waste any time on this fight when there are momentous things in politics going on right now. I see this as a desperate bid by Harris to remain a political player. Don’t play her game.
Biden’s failure was running when he should have known he was not up to it. Harris’ failure was not saying “no” when he demanded “no daylight” between their positions and instead throwing it to an Open Convention (which she could have run at…)
Kulinski is right on a lot of points in this video, but dead wrong or in denial on Harris (jump cut…):
Harris having ridiculous turnover in her office was not a rumor; that was a longstanding established FACT.
Her not distancing herself from Biden on Gaza+Israel policy was not a matter of “loyalty”, as he puts it; it was desperation. Her inability to say no to Biden on his Gaza policy was a completely disqualifying move. She should have agreed to an Open Convention, or should have even bowed out.
You’re interested in what she will do, Kyle? I and many others are not!
Memo to Americans: we will not get back control of this country from Israel through either monopoly party since AIPAC has bought both of them up. It would have to be done though an alliance of Independents vetted (to keep saboteurs out!) to be for working class issues, to fight such traitorous betrayal for a FOREIGN power, and to fight pollution. And still no such one is being set up for the midterms (when Sanders can…)
