Here’s the tricky part, Cenk: the amount of time. You briefly mentioned three months. I can’t imagine that happening anytime soon when there presently is NO PAID FAMILY LEAVE!
Now if you are doing a car selling technique and asking for three months so you can end up with nothing less than six weeks -that’s OK. But you have to be careful that you don’t go promising you will deliver three months -that could leave some new adherents in a working class venture a bit miffed at you. Clearly it should not be one day less than six weeks.
How would this be implemented? The employer picks up the tab? The employer gets a tax credit?? Perhaps it’s split between the employer and a tax credit? (then you have a better chance of PERHAPS getting three months…)
But watch: some shitty people are going to suggest TWO WEEKS -if that! Again I say: not a day less than six weeks. You can always extend it at a future date if people are jumping for joy as much as you claim they will be.
I think things are so economically unpredictable at the moment that many are putting having kids on hold…
