Cenk's take downplaying the importance of the Signal messaging foulup

Every once in awhile I have a moment of strongly agreeing with Cenk when he is swimming against the current, and this was one of them. I don’t remember the exact wording from last night’s segment but he did not ascribe that much importance to the foulup of the Trump administration in working on Signal. He mentioned Sanders’s good judgment in pushing back against the idea that it was an extraordinarily awful thing for Hillary to foul up in using her own private server for some important matters.

This comes with some caveats, including that the overall culture of the Trump administration should not be to foster insecure ways of doing this.

Also, (and more importantly) I saw a social media report of Project 2025 or other similar thinking encouraging use of systems which delete messages and do not leave a paper trail, with the idea of using such systems in matters that may ultimately not be considered legal by some. This is something which is important and not to be dismissed. So, I hope Cenk ultimately will consider this aspect in his future treatment of the topic, but setting that aside, I thought he showed good judgment not to engage in the feeding frenzy of criticism of some accidentally leaked military plans. It’s a bad thing, as was the denial by some, but there should be established ways to deal with it.

The Signal thing, which is a f-up, will get sorted out. The tangible damage from it is that it harmed EU relations. Silver lining for the EU: it wakes them up to where these guys heads are at (so they can be vigilant now and take preemptive steps…)

Yeah: the Signal ballyhoo is distracting from the completely unconstitutional and ILLEGAL attempted power grab of State voting procedures (I discuss that here -link…)

How does Hegseth and the rest of the people in that Signal chat using it for planning a special ops/bombing of Yeman hurt the EU in ANYWY? I mean it is a US Defense Department screwup and the country they attacked was in Africa? I see NOTHING having to do with the EU in this

Read the texts; they disparage that other countries should be addressing the Houthis (namely the EU…), not them (yeah; they should pitch in; but it concerns the US too…)

Vance’s anti-Europe obsession runs deep in texting debacle (link)
