Chicago Meet and Greet (never meet your heroes?)

Hey, I would like to hear from anyone who is planning to meet Cenk in Chicago tomorrow. I happen to be in the area and have a ticket. For me, its a really big deal to meet the big fella. Is anyone else going? My date had to cancel at the last minute, so I will be going alone. HMU if youre going!! I know they say, “never meet your hero”, but I have faith that mine is the real thing. Fingers crossed?

Well, I’ll see u there!

Would like to go but in Denver.
If I was there, I would ask Cenk why create a new organization called Revolution when there is a fully mature organization called Indivisibles and that has nearly a thousand smaller nonprofits supporting Democratic change?

Note taken and if given opportunity I will do that.

I wish I could’ve made it, but work had me tied up. Hope everyone had a great time!

Packed rooms full of people chanting political catchphrases and waiting in line for a selfie just isn’t my idea of a good time. Plus, I’d rather engage with the ideas through a good debate or a longform interview than elbow my way through a crowd for a handshake

Hello! Do mean Rebellion PAC? It’s a PAC that already existed - just changing direction a little. Not starting a nonprofit by any means. Happy to discuss! kara@rebellionpac.com

Just seeing this now, @russrcaldwell2. I was there, and was wondering if you would be too. Did you make it there? Hope you enjoyed it as much as I did. Would have been even better if we had the chance to sit and have a beer.

Post Meet/Greet Update: I do not know how Uygur does what he does. Say what you will about the guy, but he is available and accountable. He wields the platform with a proper amount of respect for its power. Before Friday I had never met the man, and, quite frankly, he is a hero of mine. For 5 bucks and half a tank of gas, there was no way Id miss it. I assumed everyone in the group would be as big a fanboy as I am. Well, it turns out, thats not really the case. Folks in the audience all had wonderful ideas and suggestions, and I understand its a great dynamic. I wouldnt change a thing, but he is remarkably gracious and kind, especially, given his propensity for fiery debate. I, on the other hand, was more of a nervous fan than I realized. I like to think I am not too easily rattled. That said, it was an honor to meet a guy who dedicated himself, so devoutly, to the notion of speaking truth to power. I planned to be my more eloquent and incisive self, but instead, let a nervous tick show thru. When I get a little nervous, I tend to curse a lot more . I, also, have to admit I missed much of his talk. Initially, I went to the wrong place (same restaurant different location), but I did, eventually, find the right address. Its all good though, I got what I came for. He, graciously, signed my copy of his book and took the time to speak with all of us, one to one. IDK, maybe this guy isnt who he appears to be, but I would, heavily, bet against that. Best night everr!!!

Come to think of it, I saw someone who looked familiar, but without the facial hair in your profile pick. Did you shave it off? No fair lol!

I was late too, and for the same reason. Luckily, I still made it in time to talk with him briefly before he made his speech, and again after.

I then hung out with 3 other members, including one who drove all the way from South Carolina! I knew all of them through this platform, and from the Operation Hope town halls. Meeting them in person would have made my trip worth it, every bit as much as meeting Cenk did. We stayed in the room long after Cenk left. They finally had to kick us out so they could clean the room. @NickMudar and I then went to the bar and talked until last call. Another reason I love being part of this community!

Well, no I did have the hair, but the room was very crowded. I am pretty sure I saw you too, but didnt put 2 and 2 together. Next time!
