Clowns at the wheel of the Clown Car

Well… The right wing is big on state rights and that is what saved us during Trump’s first run as president. Maybe a system where states can counter federal decisions and have certain ways to combat the federal bureaucracy.

NY’s Governor has a big decision to make. Remove a Trump backed Mayor in Adam’s and lead the opposition as well as draw Trump’s wrath…or leave him in office as Trump ordered charges to be dropped against him.

Governors like her need to lead the way and stop the corruption in its tracks.

She’s a HUGE coward. She was afraid to deal with the migrant crisis. [She could have declared an emergency and set up settlements in the Adirondacks, as opposed to wasting money on hotels and having them be in a place that is very expensive and thus conducive to crime; she could have countermanded a previous court order stating that police had no power to turn over a migrant committing a crime to ICE. In other words, she had a good opportunity to show other States how to manage the migrant crisis as long as there was an impasse in Congress…] She flip-flopped on the congestion pricing, Don’t be looking to her for salvation! Her inaction is a layup for crackpot Repubs to make inroads in NY.

As it stands, no Dems will want Adams to remain; so after many Dems complain she’s not discharging him, only then will she act…

Unfortunate but true. Discharging Adam’s is a redemption moment I’m not sure will come. It remains to be seen.

Either way I believe Governors actually leading is the way to combat the nonsense in DC.

Completely agreed! I would like Maine and Vermont to get in the act. Even though those are Dem governors, those states have not done a complete surrender to the corporate owners of the Dem Party. Maine bailed on a winner-take-all electoral policy, and they have enacted chargebacks for plastics (as California has, but Dem NY and MA have notably NOT…) Maine and Vermont also have interesting possibilities for trade with Canada, and can even link up on a trade route if Canada were to support it.

If Sununu (Repub) was still in New Hampshire, he’d probably want in too. Well, keep the door open to NH; many Repubs in NH don’t like a Trump dictatorship one jot. Maybe they will eventually rebel against their current governor and demand a referendum on it…

That will be ignored by the Kangaroo Court conservative majority and most Repubs.

What will have them see God is governors saying they want out, it’s been real; we want to conduct referendums and have some discussions to repair what went wrong with The Great Experiment. Repubs don’t want to honor legal precedents now? We no longer have any use for a ““United”” States.

The Repubs are threatening to ignore well-established court precedents -and Musk went and actually did it, by not getting security clearances; and might I add one of the workers had a black mark that would be a dealbreaker for a trusted security clearance, so Musk’s unleashing that bad faith actor on sensitive info prior to a clearance has already disqualified Musk’s standing.

OK, Bernie; and other than give an angry speech about it, what are you going to DO about it? Wait for Bondi to do a full schizophrenic transformation? Wait for the Kangaroo Court to hand down another Trump-Is-King decision??

Speeches are over Bernie; it’s action time, like I remember you used to do.

Meet with your governor in Vermont and representatives from Maine. Organize articles for a new federation, and dates for referendums on them. Hey, perhaps even have some private off-the-record discussions with Canada; right??

Don’t be waiting for the midterms; those Nazis are transforming the military to be a domestic Gazpacho (oh, sorrry; MGT made me slip up -I meant Gestapo…) Right now the military is on the working people’s side.

Hegseth and Bondi are Kard-Karrying Kult members…

If there’s one thing I learned from my husband using The Sopranos as his “comfort” show over the past three years (seriously, at least 20 times through ALL seasons - to be fair, he does skip the scenes he doesn’t like)… these gangster stories are cautionary tales. Do NOT duplicate their efforts.

This speech hit;

Since NOBODY was succinctly summarizing all the colossal horseshit that Stupid Hitler (and the majority of Repubs who support him) were pushing about Ukraine, this speech WAS called for!

Thanks, President Pro Tempore Bernie Sanders.
[And I am being serious as cancer when I say that.]

PS You will note Sanders’ use of Trumpty Dumpty’s favorite insult: SAD. Yep, you can’t top the SADness of this surrender to a bunch of gangsters. I think Trump is simply afraid of having him and people around him getting killed by Putin (his favorite modus operandi, right??)

Nah, that won’t work (a national strike…)

Believe me: I would love it if I did think it had a chance. But the people perpetrating chaos were planning this and have well-stocked bunkers and robotic guns. Already there has been damage done to prices thanks to Stupid Hitler’s drunken sailor tariff threats (not that tariffs can’t be readjusted, but the last thing you want to do is the threat thing like he did…) He’s clearly doubling down; what makes you think he’ll back down for a strike? Will SOME of the conservative Supreme Court majority like that option?? Doubt it.

Exiting is the best way; let two or more States get the party started. Have more States join if they like the repaired procedures of governance that the first few drafted and endorsed through referendums.

It takes a while to do that; if the Supreme Court realizes they took it too far, maybe there won’t need to be a final showdown over an exit -it’s up to both them and the States suing for an exit validated by State referendums…

I wonder if they really are okay with the fact that they will have to turn their guns on their neighbors to protect their stock.

We need community to survive. Not bunkers and guns.

The one-percenters we presently see clinging to power are freaking psychopaths. Yes, they will mow down their neighbors.

We can start with drafting, referendums, and taking our case to other countries (and my bet is other countries want to see some ORDERLY repudiation coming from here -you’re laying out the groundwork for a form of government that remedies the flaws that have crept in to the processes of U.S. representational democracy…)

We’re not imposing it on 50 States; we can go for an elective endorsement by referendum for States who have had enough of the clown show (it would have to be to a higher bar than a mere majority of 51%)

I live in Minnesota, so remember Scott Walker. Puke! How interesting that Trump gave him $15,000 during the recall. :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:

My next-door neighbor and the neighbor who lives across the alley from them always talk about how great Trump is. We’ve even heard them and their gang of idiots chanting, "Trump, Trump, Trump… " repeatedly while holding their beer cans up to the Trump flag in their garage. Anyway, they also talk a lot about being ready and constantly stocking up their already ample caches of guns and ammo. Meanwhile, their elementary-aged kids (who are really super sweet!) are constantly sworn at; are made to play in the grassless and muddy backyard where they never pick up the dog poop from their three mean dogs and is fenced with chicken wire; and are out past midnight even during the school week saying how hungry they are while a bunch of adults drink all night. They’re nice enough, and I always check in to see how they’re doing when I see them, but at the same time, they make me a little scared to go outside into my own yard (which is like my little oasis). That’s on me, though, too. Yeah, so that’s kinda terrifying.

Told ya’; she’s a huge coward. Review all her INdecisions to date.

Full disclosure: I was fine with Adams remaining in until he had a chance to disprove his charges. But Trumpists need to be sent a loud and clear message to butt out.

I would have been fine with her suspending a federal court order denying the ability to turn over criminal actors to ICE, under her emergency powers. But she’s a coward who will do little. She only did the congestion pricing after a lot of politicos and people screamed at her.

[Note that there are things wrong with the congestion pricing; it is also in effect in the evening, when there is no congestion and it would serve to discourage truck drivers from coming in during the day and illegally double-parking to do deliveries, and it doesn’t provide a day like Sunday to suspend it, so tristate shoppers have a chance to pick up large items.]
