Comey never understood the danger of the delegation of extraordinary surveillance powers. His mindset was: “Of course our top law enforcement and NSA officials who are supervising it will be straight shooters, beyond reproach, so we can trust them…”
Is the officer at DOJ prosecuting your case such a “straight shooter”? Are Bondi and Patel such “straight shooters”??
The abuse of such surveillance power for either political or financial gain is much too dangerous. It needs civilian oversight (which could be done through impaneled vetted civilians on a rotating basis, analogous to the enlistment of a jury… ), reporting confidentially to the Intel Committee whenever abuses are spotted.
Now that that surveillance apparatus is in the abusive hands of a manchild who is cosplaying a mob boss, I wonder if he is having a rethink on all that…
