Confronting Christian Nationalism: Fear or Strategy?

Even with the devastating LA fires, this has been on my mind. Hearing some right-wingers say, ‘let LA burn’ has been enraging—their cruelty and heartlessness are appalling. But the Left hasn’t done much better. While Christian Nationalism is a serious threat, the Left’s shallow response—resorting to name-calling instead of meaningful action—falls short.

We should look at Iran’s fall to religious extremism as a case study in what happens when a society fails to confront it effectively. The fear-driven echo chambers criticizing TYT for engaging with the Right only perpetuate these failures. Open dialogue isn’t betrayal—it’s a necessary step toward systemic change.

How can the Left—media, activists, and institutions—balance principled opposition to Christian Nationalism with strategies that avoid fear-driven rigidity? How can we lead with solutions and coalition-building, rather than reactive outrage?

Why did god let the fires spread? I thought god was good. Burning down LA isn’t what i would call ‘good’.
