Given Trump and Doge are about cutting waste, is there a watchdog group, anyone in office that can draft legislation or an injunction that can be filed to stop the government from giving contracts to parties with conflicts of interest?
As of Feb 17, another $76.7 million of taxpayer money promised to Elon Musk since Donald Trump’s inauguration.
He has made 21 billion of taxpayer money promised since 2008.
If money equals power our very own government has been empowering Musk for a very long time!!!
It looks like this is something the US Senate Select Committee on Ethics should be dealing with. The committee members include James Lankford, (R-Oklahoma, Chairman), Christopher A. Coons, (D-Delaware, Vice Chairman), James E. Risch, (R-Idaho), Brian Schatz, (D-Hawaii), Deb Fischer, (R-Nebraska), and Jeanne Shaheen, (D-New Hampshire)
It does seem like the Senate Select Committee on Ethics would have jurisdiction over this matter, given their role in handling conflicts of interest and ethical violations. Have there been any indications that the committee is actively reviewing this issue? If so I’m not too sure they will vote for this.
It looks like there’s growing congressional scrutiny over Musk’s government contracts, with multiple lawmakers pushing for investigations and legislative action. I hope this momentum will lead to meaningful policy changes.
