Do you think republicans will cancel all future elections?

Republicans postponed elections in Miami City of Miami postpones November 2025 election to 2026, extends officials' terms - CBS Miami

They know that this will be challenged in courts and will eventually go to Supreme Court. Given all that is happening with that court they might side with republicans and say you can cancel the elections. If that happens will republicans cancel all future elections?

They sure will try! Why else would they charge ahead with crap in the BBB that nobody wants -that’s a major tell that they will.

The question is: what will the States do to stand up to them? Precious little??

I reckon itll be about 50/50 and some states will say its over the top. As you said though, they only need one to go to the supreme court and win. Probably part of trumps plan to stay in office.

We are heading right for a secondary civil war. If republicans try to cancel all elections, there is NO WAY the country could survive without the American people standing up. The current administration is doing everything they can to diminish the constitution and take our rights away.

I agree: if the Supreme Court endorses voter suppression, See You On the Dark Side of the Moon.

Time for States to make an orderly exit, and if cracker ones still have a majority of Trump cult members left in them, they’re welcome to remain in a failed experiment (but it hasn’t completely failed -yet; many courts have been doing their jobs…)

Maybe we see an impeachment before then because of the consequences of illegal tariffs and/or another illegal Iran strike by Trump, without consulting Congress.

Why do you think he/they declared peace so fast? He saw that was in the pipe! [if he continued down the path of a rinse+repeat of Iraq]

If they do try to cancel elections on a broader scale (and I think they will try), then some of this might be based on a false claim that the system is rigged against them, so they must cancel the elections until a fair voting system (by their false standards) can be put into place.

Has TYT interviewed election systems experts? Recently? Frequently? If not at all, then I would feel let down, but somewhere in there, they must have done this. The Republicans have long been guilty of egregious lies and exaggerations about our voting system. Democrats also have their faults, but a non-partisan true expert could cut through all the shennanigans and let us know what is happening.

I myself have no objections to a photo id requirement; but everything proposed by the Repubs to implement that is designed to suppress. I would have liked for the Dems to get behind a photo id standard, but they haven’t and it welcomes the crackpot theory that illegal voting has swayed outcomes (the amount of illegal voting would have to be less than one percent; but without a photo id, they leave themselves open to such insane claims…)

no the appearance of democracy while still having the system rigged is way more valuable than making it clear to everyone that we don’t have democracy by cancelling all elections

Yeah i think mr John mentioned that on a recent ep, just like Putin does.

good points about the botched Dem positions (or lack of positions) on voting system improvement.

Again, TYT needs to increase the quantity and quality of (ideally non-partisan) voting system experts that they bring onto the show and interview, unless I am missing where that’s already happened a lot.

I never actually thought of this, and it’s a good point. I would still be surprised if there are no election cancellations or related, but not as surprised, after reading this point.
