Donald Trump didn’t create the division we see today… he revealed it

In many ways, Trump has acted like a mirror held up to society. A mirror showing how easily fear, prejudice, and greed can be repackaged as strength… and even worn as a badge of honor. The real lesson isn’t about one man; it’s about how many people were willing to embrace the worst parts of our culture when they were given permission to do so openly.

At the same time, the far-right rallying cry that “woke must die” shows the other side of that mirror. What they call “woke” originally meant awareness of injustice… awareness of racism, inequality, and the systems that harm people. The push to destroy that awareness reveals a deeper resistance to confronting uncomfortable truths.

Trump didn’t invent these tensions. He exposed them and has attracted people that think ideology is more important than facts.

If there’s any value in that reflection, it’s that it gives society a choice: ignore what the mirror shows, or finally confront it and demand something better… not through anger or denial, but through participation, accountability, and the power of the vote.

But to paraphrase the sign on Truman’s desk: the buck stops somewhere. The process of impeachment was tailor made for this situation. He’s not just off the rails; he and his circle of grifters are telegraphing to Americans: “What are you going to do about it?” The process of impeachment was intended for taking out a leader who had betrayed his loyalty to the Constitution and is a clear and present danger. If that’s not Donald in 2026, I don’t what is.

What say you, Republican majority in Congress?

And if most of the Repubs in Congress want to remain craven, then we need hardcore national strikes and slowdowns -not just the continuation of playing like this is within the parameters of acceptable behavior and all we need to do is wait for the midterms…

I agree, the midterms are too late. Where is the outcry among Democrats ? Our country is literally become an authoritarian , fascistic state. There is no greater threat

There are a handful that want to do the right thing with regards to Israel; most are just doing a play to get the donor money. Most are very cynically telegraphing to the electorate: “Fuck what you think you are entitled to; just give us the money and appreciate the few table scraps we let you have! We got AIPAC and monopoly corporations giving us REAL money; not the chump-change you Poors donate!!” MOST of the Dem Party has been acting in BAD FAITH with regards to:

  • America First vs. Israel First

  • the interests of workers vs. corporate monopolies

Note that when the last Repub defected, he went Independent. What have I been saying on these forums about Sanders organizing an Independent alliance? It doesn’t have to be a group that is as large as the Repubs (after the midterms, if they don’t get on board an impeachment…) or the Dems (after America Firsters pass on them…) It can be a quarter of the size of the Dem seats in the House (start there…) Such a block could stop the quorums on Israel and corporate monopolies first.

Sanders: formally define it and maintain its integrity through people who previously worked on your campaigns! There is little time left for Indies to ballot-by-petition for the November primaries.

If that Repub who defected can pledge to support a SHORTlist of pro-worker issues, he should be welcomed to that alliance if he wants in (strength in alliance numbers!) Should he later go “off the reservation”, a “Good Housekeeping” committee originally selected by Sanders could always kick him to the curb from that alliance. It’s a very effective and swift way to get the functional equivalent to an alternative party.

By keeping the objective list to a SHORT one that is focused on worker issues (news flash: blowing all our money on Israel’s antics and machinations is a worker issue! -besides often being a humanitarian one…), you sidestep squabbling over a raft of purity tests that Repubs and Dems would try to use to divide and conquer, to kill such a nascent political org in the crib. Alliance members would still have a free hand to pursue what they feel is practical and right aside from those objectives, working in concert with either Dems or Repubs, so long as they do not contradict the aforementioned shortlist (and if they do? -a committee could then boot them from the alliance; they then have no alignment, they are just adrift in a political sea, a make-it-up-as-you-go-along Independent…)

Having a holy war over a long laundry list of issues, as many Prog pundits would like, will get us where we have been getting the last 30 years -nowhere! And that will make the Dem leadership very happy since they can continue to draw fat checks, and insure that the Supreme Court never gets its CHUD problem fixed that was instigated by: Trump and the Repubs, and the Dems not having an open convention to come up with a tenable candidate for 2024 (even if that was Harris, provided she didn’t say at such a convention that she was just fine with Biden’s policies -fat chance!)

I completely agree which is why we shouldn’t just vote. We must understand the power of our vote and the consequences that come with it. People are not voting their conscience, they are voting because of legacy politics. Grandpa was a republican. Dad was a republican so I’m a republican. They need to understand the party has shifted and you can’t vote like that.

When you have a leader that says he loves the uneducated; beware!!! It’s the reason why he is there. It’s the reason he was able to pack the Supreme Court in his favor and it’s the reason so many in the senate and Congress got voted in that have been cut from the same cloth. As a result we have not had true checks and balances for years. Trump has usurped congressional power and they have not only allowed it, they have also protected him from two impeachments!!!

it’s my sincere hope that the Iran war has been the drop that split the bucket over and November will mark a new dawn for our country. As campaign promises have been broken, the lies the right tells and the accusations they make is a blue print of what they are actually doing and the voter looking for change realizes the right just isn’t it.
