Environmental Scientist here. What are you all doing to create hope about environmental issues? I remember going to the 2017 climate march in DC. There were sooooo many people there but the administration didn’t even notice, let alone give a rats ass. I felt like I was wasting my time and money and running headlong into a wall. Now I’m more focused on local issues. Together with a small group of people, I am trying to save private parcels within a small nature preserve from developers. It’s an uphill battle but we have had some real success. We saved one parcel and now developers have bought up other land right in the heart of the preserve and intend to mine and destroy it. We are on it. Check out our Facebook page Friends of the Hoppers-Birge Pond Nature Preserve. I feel much better going grassroots than joining mass protests that don’t seem to be making much of a difference. What are you doing to raise hope for the environment? I would love to hear about others’ efforts.

I just moved to a new place, its not much but I am starting with making a nice seating area with a little hidden path through the woods near where I live. I plan to share it with some of the locals and create a little dialog. A little internal community where we can hang out, cook some food on the grill and enjoy the nature. I saw 3 deer walk past yesterday. I miss the long walks I used to take in the forest. I was hoping to turn my attention to helping protect the national forest nearby. It was always a place of refuge and I cant stand the thought of a mega corporation buying it from the Trump administration for exploitation.
