As someone from the American Jewish culture, I appreciate your extended hard work to lay out where the lines should be drawn. One thing I liked about this episode was the point made at the end about how the bad guys here are pretending to speak for all Jews. They most definitely do not.

In the Cenk-Got-It-Wrong Department: how bad was his call on Josh Shapiro for a VP? (though in his defense he quickly bailed on the idea once Walz was considered -he probably thought that was going to be a non-starter for the Corporate Dems…) I completely KNEW Shapiro was going to be in denial about Israel. And now with the genocide evolving into a holocaust, can anyone wonder why few voters had the stomach for Harris? (though that was not the only reason; not saying jack squat about improving things for workers was also a big part of it…) If she was President now, she’d be doing an impersonation of a Ficus plant in regards to Israel’s present actions. “So how is Trump working out?!” Spare me the false dichotomies! We needed someone else, as we were saying back then when we SHOULD have had an Open Convention (like: Walz, Moore, Beshear… -anybody but AOC!)
I see a point bandied about now in the Progosphere: “Most of the Dems are bailing on Israel…” What the hell are you talking about?! They might be trying to claim that, but for at least 90% of them, it is just…not…true! (nor, of course, is it true for the Repubs either, excepting the presently small Libertarian wing…)
going back to the 90s and 2000s, particularly around the time of 9-11 and Cheney-Bush, there’s one added point I’ve always wanted to make. Let’s say for the sake of argument that a US voter really wants to support Israel (this does happen often enough in the Jewish community, and perhaps in some other communities in the US). Then this was not_ accomplished, in my opinion, by supporting Cheney-Bush or some of the other supposed strong supporters of Israel. Cheney Bush administration actions in the Middle East arguably harmed Israel’s future as much as helped it.
Israel’s future is harmed (in my opinion) by its present actions of killing (is murder technically correct?) so many unarmed civilians in Gaza. So, if a US voter really does want to support Israel, it will not, in my opinion, be by supporting US politicians who support Israel in its most dastardly deeds. In fact, one could argue that those US voters and their representatives who presently support Israel’s slaughtering people in Gaza are actually supporting harm to Israel and its future.
Over the years I think many in the US have become weary of some aspects of the discussion, and they concede the point that the Republicans are “strong supporters” of Israel, but I question whether this has been fully true. Maybe some of the “support” for Israel has actually in some ways harmed its long term future.
