WTF TYT?! WTAF!?!? Why does it take you over a week to fix an issue with your website?! That tells volumes about how this place runs. You’re probably broke and only have one person doing all the f*ing web hosting. RIDICULOUS!
What problems are your referring to? I have have no problems getting onto tyt.com or the forums this past week
I haven’t been able to login. I messaged TYT who told me it was a known issue. Took them forever to fix this.
I won’t fault them for being broke. Doing the right thing is not known to pay all that well…
I thought I had issues and I’ve been through a lot but damn!
I’m not referring to the website.
TYT’s not some massive media company with a giant tech team; they’re doing a lot with limited resources. If we want spaces that aren’t corporate-controlled, maybe we can show each other a little more grace when things go wrong. We’re all part of building this.
Building what? This channel is dying. If you look at the views per video (which is what really matters on youtube) it takes TYT more than 5 days to reach 50k views…for a channel that has been around 20 years. That’s horrendous! David Pakman has been around for a lot less time and crushes TYT in views. Why? He’s better at raising money while staying true to his ethics. He does advertising. TYT needs to get their game together or it’s lights out for this pioneering platform.
youtube screws around with views; I don’t trust them one bit.
I’d like to see Turks start MIRRORING their content on peertube. Once it’s there, they can contrast the views and check the veracity of google’s viewing stats.
The big thing to making a channel sustainable is desirable merch: mugs, shirts, bumper stickers…
It was not an issue with the website, it was an issue with this platform. We are likely moving over to different model.
A constructive suggestion as to making the site more sustainable with merch: have banner ads here (middle, top…), and randomly showcase a different merch item upon each visit. Clicking on the banner takes you to the item, all ready for checkout.
I also have a killer idea for a Tshirt, to add to your merch (I wanted to use it for the Tesla protests, but could not get it together in time…) If someone involved with Turks merch is interested, private message me with a CC to Kara Eastman (to vet that you are affiliated with Turks…)
Some really valid points here—and also a reminder that TYT’s not just a YouTube channel, it’s part of something bigger that a lot of folks have been trying to build together for years. Yeah, the numbers aren’t what they used to be, and yeah, there are real questions about sustainability. But platforms like YouTube don’t exactly reward independent voices that challenge power. If TYT’s evolving their model, maybe this is a chance to reimagine what independent media could be—less about chasing views, more about deep community and accountability. I’d love to see us focus on that potential instead of just writing it off.
I love the passion and enthusiasm but it really is just a you tube channel. Remove the YT channel and this place dies. There are other channels too.
The summary video content is a framework for topics of discussion. You will note I don’t just list Turks segments here, but other relevant ones (like Meidas…)
It’s great we sometimes get to discuss issues omitted from a video; that makes the video and posts all the more synergistic.
[I’ll take $5 for the use of that word, please…]
I’d also like to see that Turks mirror their video content elsewhere, besides youtube (using peertube, for example…), as a check on google’s stats…
TYT is on 4 different platforms currently
- tyt.com
- All the TYT YouTube Channels( I think there are 8 channels)
- Twitch
- Discord
I think you are just looking at the views over on “The Young Turks” YT channel and not the other 7 channels they have or Twitch and then there is the 24/7 here in the Forums and Discord.
Yeah; I just keep an eye on the youtube ones, since those have the largest numbers, so people know what I’m referring to…
I wonder what percentage of total views for TYT comes from YouTube?
Check out Nebula?
Honestly, i’ve never heard of it. As far as a video social media platform, YouTube is good enough for me.
I seriously doubt anything is ever good enough for you sciguy24.
