Gay rights play with lots of comedy in Toronto for anyone interested

Hey, folks, this is admittedly self-interested, but I’m in a play about gay rights revolving around a Toronto couple from the 1970s to the early 2000s. It’s my first time on stage in over 20 years. Just thought there might be progressives on this board who might be interested. I’m one of the very few who isn’t LGBTQ, but most of the cast and the playwright are and it’s been the best performance experience of my career; such generous, caring people, who’ve taught me a lot. No egos.

This from our playwright:
A brave new play, “Long Live the Rainbow” on now at the Alumnae Theatre from May 16 to 25th.

They met in a waiting room of a doctor that performed electro-shock aversion therapy on gay men. This is Toronto in 1972, the true event that inspired “Long Live the Rainbow”.

Bring your friends and celebrate with us the decades of 2SLGBTQ+ activism, that are now threatened. The play, focusing on a relationship, serves as a reminder of why we fought for the right to love regardless of our gender. On at the Alumnae Theatre from May 16 to 25th - Canada’s oldest women’s theatre. $5 of every ticket goes to Rainbow Railroad. There is a lobby display about the period by The ArQuives.

And here’s our amazing cast, director in cast, playwright in blue shirt, booker/assistant/stage manager in baseball cap, and props/make-up artist in front of the playwright.
