Gulf of.../Google

If you want to partially work around google preferencing google maps and their choice of “Gulf of America” (courageous choice there, guys…), you can install this browser extension and set it to use mapquest and its choice of Gulf of Mexico:

Note that other browsers support chrome extensions nowadays (like: Vivaldi, Opera, Firefox…)

To change MapiIt to use mapquest (its install default is google maps…): after installing the extension, on the browser toolbar hover over the mapquest extension button, right-click on it, and choose “Options…”; then choose the default to be mapquest.

You can select the text of a location in the browser, right-click it, and use the menu choice “MapIt”. The location will show up in a new mapquest tab.

Note to websites providing map directions (through, for example, a wordpress plugin…): perhaps you will want to consider cutting over to mapquest now.
