I just watched an amazing War film from 1942 that knocked me over. It is , " Keeper of the Flame " , starring Spencer Tracy and Katherine Hepburn in dramatic roles. It was initially banned by the war department, because of the writing. A WWI war hero mysteriously dies and Tracy is a journalist wanting to write the truth about him as he is nationally loved and he is on track for the Presidency. His death becomes a mass outpouring that the nation bestows on this hero. But something doesn’t add up , the widow rebuffs the journalist ,but he doesn’t give up. Going further would reveal too much , but fascism and anti-fascism are the real protagonists . We are today dealing with the same themes manifest in a film that’s 84 years old. Totally prescient of what’s happening today. See it-- free on Prime and a rental fee on Apple TV. Jack Callahan
