It seems like everyone on the left is ecstatic about Kamala Harris all of a sudden, but why? Not only has she not released a single policy proposal, but she has flip-flopped her positions throughout her entire career. Every time I ask someone why they support her they get very defensive and Trump is always mentioned.
But even if she defeats Trump, we still lose. If Kamala wins this election then we will not have a real democratic primary until 2032 as long as she runs in 2028, which she will. That is devastating. Additionally, she was not chosen through a democratic process. She dropped out of the 2020 primary after being one of the least popular candidates, then was picked for VP. Are you comfortable waiting nearly a decade to have a chance at a real democratic primary process? I’m not.
She has stood by Genocide Joe in full support while children are starving and have had limbs amputated without anesthetic because of his choices. She has said that her support for Israel is “unwavering.” She is one of AIPACs top recipients, so we have no reason to believe she’ll be an ounce better on the issue except MAYBE slightly better rhetoric.
People are excited that a minority woman may win the presidency, I get that, but what is she going to do for the 39% of Americans who skip meals to make rent? What is she going to do about corporations buying up residential housing?? I haven’t heard her even speak of these issues.
I have no reason to think she is a morally good person but plenty of reasons to believe she is not. She blocked the release of a free man who was proven to be innocent and blatantly said the free labor of prisoners for the state of California was a motivation.
& finally, despite Tim Walz’s good qualities, she chose a running mate who derives pleasure from ending the lives of animals. I don’t trust the moral character of people who enjoy killing animals or those who are unfazed by such actions.
So, Kamala supporters - now is not the time to be gushing over a candidate who hasn’t made any promises to improve our quality of life. Now is the time to be making demands for your votes. Your vote is your leverage. Make her earn it. As long as democrats know they own your votes they will never have any incentive to change.
She’s not a dictator. Enjoy the shit-sandwich choices we have in this election.
We might have had better choices if Biden’s condition had not been concealed and challengers had emerged on the Dem side earlier in the election cycle. As I called out on another post, after this election is in the can, we need an accounting of who in the administration was concealing his poor health. Appears to be episodic; it was not at all visible at the State of the Union…
The #1 reason is because she is not Biden and can defeat tRump. I think we all know that she will just be the “stop-gap” that Biden was supposed to be and that she is far from the Progressive that we all would prefer. But also with her picking Tim Walz as her VP she shows that she could be convinced to move more to the Left and actually get some stuff done. We all know that she is not going to be some “messiah” that will save us from the big bad MAGAts. It will take some time to even see a small change but at least now we have a chance to get that change. Before Biden dropped out we had 0% chance and now it’s 50/50

The way she has been speaking down to protesters is not new.
It has been going on for months, even before Bush and Bowman’s defeat. So this is not a new realization and fear of AIPAC. She’s had protesters escorted out and used the “I’m speaking right now” line every time.
