It’s Time for Soft Secession

Only if you are ready to follow it up with a serious secession that would take years to execute if there is pushback against a soft one.

The problem at this point is the Supreme Court. Pack it once a non-Repub president wins?? That would lead to a rebellion from the right. Better to start having an orderly exit at this point. The Supreme Court, not Congress, failed the vision that the framers of the Constitution had for it. The Repub wing has usually made it up as they went along. I don’t see an honest logical consistency in their decisions [I would point to: taking up the tariff decision on appeal; crazy-ass decisions on gun regulations, sanctioning guns that have an equivalent kill capability as the Thompson submachine gun, and knocking down registration and licensure requirements…]

Perhaps impeach Thomas for his emoluments after a midterm win? (presuming the Dems DON’T cave on an Epstein files release -NOT A SURE THING!) That might work, but that’s no walk in the park. He’s the one fomenting the crazyass gun regulation thinking…

You listen to this accounting of the surreptitious efforts to damage the Supreme Court, and you can’t escape the conclusion that the Court has been instrumental in robbing States of their powers, and that it’s beyond repair and we now need a breakup.

As they correctly point out in this video, the conservative majority is now suppressing the Constitution:

  • They are screwing around with Congress’s “power of the purse” (case in point: the tariff appeal…)

  • They are making up out of whole cloth an interpretation of nearly unfettered gun use, while the Second Amendment clearly points to a “well-regulated militia”.

Maybe under a surviving State or compact of States there could be a return to what the framers of the Constitution had in mind…

But hey -let’s have an appeal to see if he has the ultimate power of the purse!

So in 2026 will he have a roundtable on advocates for representational democracy?

If there’s no serious plan by States to stop the planned disruption of the midterms dead in its tracks, yes. This one’s going to take more than just shooting off an Email to your Congressman/woman or posting on social media…
