A handful of corporate Dems can decide to surrender -but we don’t have to…
If the Repubs scoff at the effectiveness of that, they can be told it will not be just one; others can follow on very short notice, allowing no time for them to brace for it and drop propaganda that everything is just peachy…
I’m Darwin on this; if after the betrayal by a coterie of corporate Dems (and we always knew that party was defective; though the Repubs have gone full-on insane…) there is no will to call National StrikeS soon, I feel the people get the government they deserve.
You can blame politicos, but following through on national strikes is up to US…
If some people would be afraid of being threatened with a firing (because you don’t have enough sick days…), you could always show up and just not be all that productive on those days -effectively a slow down. Same diff.
Is your employer going to have your back at your next surprise medical emergency? If they are, you would be among a very small number who would have an excuse to not strike…
We are 2 weeks before Thanksgiving and already there are major fissures in the airlines. They are dramatically slowing down the system for safety which means many cancellations and delays. It wouldn’t take much for everything to fold if the Pilots , baggage handlers, and flight attendants all called in sick or went on strike. Air traffic control is on thin ice, they don’t have enough qualified people to match the demand , and the stress is even killing some of these people. The FAA has told Congress the need for system upgrades for years, yet nothing gets done. Perhaps this will precipitate a larger shutdown across the nation, such as trucking, ports , shipping and the like
The strategy is to get the Billionaires Boys Club to cuss out Don for taking it much too far. A bipartisan offer should have allowed insureds to choose their coverage: ACA or Trumpcare (whatever the fuck that is or will be…)
There was a call by the Chicago Mayor at the last No Kings for a national strike. At that time, the focus of No Kings was just to initially show the world that many Americans are not with the program. Now that a handful of corporate Dems betrayed their working class constituents, I think the will for this is there.
If there’s a call for it, I know I will throw down…
For maximal uptake it should be called “A National Strike and Slowdown” (to protect workers who have Trumpkin bosses…) Could be just one of a series of strikes/slowdowns.
If the discussion is started now before a final decision by Congress, they might reconsider on a Trumpcare/ACA choice (though Trump would be terrified of such a referendum by the insured…)
“MAYBE A REVISION” OF THE OLD"French Revelution??” Let’s start the mass building of new “guillotine’s!”, maybe they would get” the idea?!”
<grin>Hmm; my post here -COINCIDENCE??!</grin>
Though I would rather we not end up there and get stuck with a Napoleon later (many have a romantic view of Napoleon; he was a Stalin, without a record being kept of what he was doing…)
Good Analysis by a Dore guest!

Just because Sanders carried a lot of water for workers is no excuse to double-down on his failed strategy! (change the Dem Party by giving speeches…)

I would point out that SLOWDOWNS along with strikes are the way to force accountability. You will be getting little interest with the scant protections you have for US workers if you end up losing your job because you went on strike. They want to claim a slowdown was done?? See you in court!

No Kings was badly needed at the beginning of Trump’s term because it put the lie to the Repub talking point that he was popular. With polling what it is now, it is not at all needed. We need national strikes and slowdowns. Yes, the Dems are not into strikes and slowdowns because it impacts their corporate donors. And yes: it’s long overdue that we impact them, to get better working conditions!
Dore calls No Kings a “psyop”. No; it was an action that was badly needed when Trump took office. But unfortunately it has BECOME a corporate Dem co-opT. The refusal of No Kings to transition to strikes and slowdowns shows the true colors of the corporate Dems who signed onto it -they want none of that labor rights stuff! Back to the galleys, serfs!!

Dore goes down the rabbit hole of what happened with Covid (as he often likes to…) There are a number of things that could have happened, but this is what we have the cold hard facts for: Chinese researchers in Wuhan engaged in reckless protocols -here’s a doc with a number of smoking guns: Was COVID-19 made inside a Chinese lab? (link…) There is discussion of “gain of function” research; that’s a distraction that is impossible to conclusively prove! When covid hit, virologists were saying it looked like a virus seen in bats (screw the pangolin theory!) Wuhan brought back some very dangerous bats from a mine that had snuffed a number of miners, and they did not handle them with high-level biohazardous suits -they just used paper masks! A positive thing that could have come from the lab leak incident would have been to confront the Chinese, and pressed for a better treaty with safeguards for the handling of biohazardous materials. But it looks to me that the US and Fauci were afraid of a Chinese confrontation (i.e., they were afraid the Chinese would go even darker…) Bullshit! That fucked us up real bad, and the US and Fauci and the rest of countries doing biohazardous research needed to confront China and establish much better safety protocols.
Maybe Fauci was in on gain of function research -you can’t prove that. Watch the doc mentioned here; the recklessness by the Chinese researchers is pretty incontrovertible…
