I still think an Independent alliance is the way to go, as opposed to your expecting a Progressive Dem President in 2028 doing a take-no-prisoners approach with the Dem Party. We could have petitioned for aligned Indies to run against Repubs in rural districts this November -but hey, what do I know? Let’s expect a Dem leopard to change its Israel First spots!
But it might all be moot if we have a conspiracy of cracker state governors suppress their States’ votes at the midterms…

OK, that’s the Carville I know (not that I know him personally…)
He does not connect the dots that Israel is driving this. I think he’s afraid of tilting at that windmill, given the number of people they presently own in the Dem party.
But you see: this has already discredited Jeffries among long-term players in the party…
Yeah, it could backfire, but I’m not sure. Schumer is still somehow the Senate minority leader, and I point this out in order to be clear that, as of this writing, supposed pro-Israel ideas still prevail at extremely high levels in the Legislative branch.
I don’t know where the constituency for Jeffries stands on some of these issues. Taking a quick look at something here:

Is a fallible over-simplification then, I guess the goal would then be to get Jeffries out at a primary, not at a general election. AI tells me he won his most recent primary, so if there was going to be a proper backlash, to actually get him out, then it would need to be about 1.5 years from now. I don’t know Brooklyn and NYC politics that well, but they did elect Mamdani as mayor, so it is not safe to assume that NYC voters will overwhelmingly always go with the pro-Israel vote.
Or maybe it could just be a matter of removing him as House Minority leader (and as possible House Speaker if the Dems win in November and if Trump fails to overturn enough of their elections). In that case I wonder how the mechanisms would work in the House, I’m not that familiar.
Or, it could just be a backlash sufficient to make him less popular, but hanging on. Well, we’ll see what his constituents and the broader populace thinks.

The whole thing stinks because Jeffries could have just received Kushner at his office in the Capitol Building; right? Yeah, he wouldn’t have received a lot of fan mail for that, but it would have come off as much less greasy than this private dinner thing. It speaks to special access and non-transparent dealings.
