I don’t know if there is already a thread or campaign around the question of what will happen 3.5 years from now, in the next Presidential election (if there is a fair one). I have a couple of preliminary questions:
what work is taking place now to clean out the Democratic party of the failed leadership that resulted in the quashing of Sanders’ chances in 2016 and the failure to have any real chance for alternative candidates in 2024?
are any others here considering voting Libertarian? I have done it before, but I have been in “prevent the dictator” mode in voting against Trump, which meant I would not vote for a 3rd party candidate. However, the betrayal and failure of the democrats has been so awful, and there is enough time to plan now, so that if it looked like the Libertarian had a chance, and if they were a decent candidate (a big if) then I would consider voting for them in 3.5 years.
It’s already been decided! Look it up. AOC got blocked from a committe role. More of the same corporate ownership (hence my repeated call to enter candidates by means of an Independent alliance; that just requires petitions to get balloted…)
I appreciated that TYT interviewed a Libertarian (I don’t remember if it was the candidate or someone else) prior to the most recent election, and I think this is the sort of thing that could be done to improve TYT coverage of the lead-up to the next election, which is to make a point of keeping the audience up to date with what is going on to put an end to the unworthy bs trainwreck we keep having from both the Republicans and Democrats, and what is being done in other areas (election integrity including elimination of voter suppression, 3rd party candidates that are worth hearing out properly, etc.) I do realize that TYT does some (but not all) of these sorts of things, but I mean to say here that it’s the sort of thing that I think would be worth beginning now in an explicit way. It will help me maintain hope over the next 3.5 years, if I can see every day or week some useful information and debate and discussion as to the next Presidential Election.
