After the “Great Offshoring” of the 1990s-2000s, I was expecting Obama to give an FDR fireside chat speech like this when McConnell and Congress blocked him on jobs initiatives!
Nope! He got pissed and showed them -he went and played golf. Those were the actions of a spoiled kid. It’s like he was reacting: “They’re blocking me because I’m black!” THAT MAY VERY WELL BE! FIGHT IT!! Don’t go off and play fucking golf.
The complete and abject failure by the Obama admin to not even TRY and address the offshoring/jobs issue was the setup for Trump to start lying to MAGAs in 2016 -and Hillary to make her compelling “Vote for me because I’m not Trump” argument (reused by Harris in 2024…) Translation? “You really have no other choice!” Yeah, if you set up “superdelegates” and don’t hold an open convention -I guess you don’t!
