Member Minor Well-Intended Corrections and Fact Check Questions - members helping TYT team if we spot something

I’m going to create this area with the idea in mind that if we are listening when here is something that comes up that maybe can be corrected or improved, we can collect these usually minor things here in a non-petty way, in the spirit of helping the TYT research team and hosts, and not in the spirit of “gotcha” and argumentation. I made a post the other day with a minor matter, and then heard another one last night, and realized:
a) if we have a collected area for this, then it won’t be all over the place.
b) it’s hard to make crystal clear that the minor correction and such is not meant in the spirit of pettiness, but is just meant as a quick thing. After all, most of us members, if we were on the air, would have foot-in-mouth disease and would get many things wrong. This is understood. I think the TYT hosts and their teams do an excellent job of getting the facts right. But once in awhile, especially if the hosts are speaking freely, they may speculate on the fly or not get something quite on the mark, so this is a thread where occasionally we could send a heads-up to their teams on minor matters.

I think I heard Ana recently mention the size of gaza strip and throw out a figure of 5 square miles? If I recall, the topic was showing scenes of the devastation and the Gazans going back to their homes that had been reduced to rubble, and also discussing the expense and length of time to rebuild. Also, there were points made about the amount of bombs that had been dropped, in kilotons.

I understand she was just talking on the fly and so the figures may inevitably get a bit off. Or maybe I flat-out misheard which area or how much. Also, it’s certainly true that Gaza Strip is widely said to be one of the most densely populated areas in the world.

In any case, a quick web search indicates a Gaza Strip area of about 141 square miles. Again, maybe I just misheard her, and anyway the point she was trying to make was not changed by the offhand numerical estimate.
