This is a strange post and could possibly be included in Operation Joy . Whattt ? as Cenk would say. Let me explain . On last nights main show [ March 24 } there was plenty of coverage in the CIA’s complicity with Israel and illegal operations in Iran. Out of the blue , this prompted a memory of an experience I had in the mid 70’s on a NYC subway , the Broadway line heading downtown to Grand Central Terminal , where I was going, from 96 Street. At the next stop, a man entered , saw me , sat down and started talking in a whisper to me. He said that he needed to contact his handlers at the CIA but had no money as he had escaped from a Russian submarine in the East River. I saw that he was wet and I chuckled thinking even if this was the remotest possibility of being true, it was the most ingenious ask of money I have ever encountered. I said sure , and happily gave him 50 cents to which he replied thanks , you are a patriot for helping your country. He got off the next stop and as I continued on , I kept thinking , what the hell, could this be for real ? Remember , these were the times of the Pentagon Papers by Daniel Ellsberg , and the film “ Three Days of the Concord “ with Robert Redford and Faye Dunaway had come out. In the film, Robert Redford was the only survivor of a hit against a small office of the CIA in Manhattan. He read books for codes and convinces a civilian, Ms. Dunaway to help him after kidnapping her. So , here I am , over 50 years later becoming paranoid again , because of rogue elements and factions in our government. I’ve laughed this off for a long time , but what if that wet guy was for real . Oh my God. Jack Callahan
