An interesting comparison to the data centre problem your having over there is the cotton farms over here in AUS. They suck up a shit tonne of water and leave the land baron. We have dealt with droughts over here year in and out and its never fun but we can all adapt. For an example some farms over here have been using fiddler crabs to help bring soil back to life and grow crops.
