  • This is totally appalling.
  • It changes a lot for me. It somewhat invalidates the position I’ve been taking against MAGA folks who were screaming from the high heavens their facile and gratuitous complaints with Biden. It makes it much harder for those of us who were calling nonsense on the MAGA folks. It is outrageous that the Democratic Party leadership and insiders had so little respect for the electorate that they did not have the decency to hold a proper Primary. Biden should have declared his non-candidacy about 2 years before the general election.
  • Have any of the other left-of-center news/blog/analysis youtube channels had the decency to clearly put forth this story and analyze it and do as good a job with it as TYT? And look at all the time they are spending analyzing how Cenk and Ana are engaging with MAGA folks, and I don’t fully blame them (I’m not entirely comfortable with it, but am largely a fan of Cenk and Ana having the intelligence to understand that otherizing and demonizing and dismissing and failing to think is not going to get anybody anywhere.)… Look at all this time, but have they covered this story? And how have they covered it? I don’t know.

If a leader’s mental fitness is a public health issue—which it is—then the standard should apply to all candidates, regardless of party.

Perhaps they viewed Trump as uniquely dangerous due to his malignant narcissism, dementia, and authoritarian tendencies. Dr. Lee called Trump a public health emergency, citing his destabilizing behavior, while Dr. Gartner highlighted his dementia and personality disorders as uniquely perilous. By contrast, they may have seen Biden’s cognitive health as less concerning.

Still, their silence weakens their objectivity, inviting partisanship and eroding public trust. To maintain credibility, experts must assess all candidates consistently and transparently, regardless of political implications.
