While the majority of the community has no interest in participating in scientific engagement, it has been discouraging to me that my attempts to start such is constantly being disparaged and dismissed. While the only person participating in scientific engagement appears to be just me, I would actually prefer support from the rest of the TYT community, but I might as well wish for something more likely, like a billion dollars.
We have a variety of strong ideas here, including strategies like the Populist Plank, The 75, and @vanidackp ’s research insights. Using @makenickraynes’ initial post as a base, we can organize these approaches into a cohesive plan.
For example, the Populist Plank’s focus on coalition-building can help train candidates to take clear stances on economic issues, aligning well with The 75’s emphasis on tackling money in politics. vanidackp, your research could guide practical strategies for preparing candidates to face real challenges in Congress. This structure would unify our efforts and leverage each contributor’s strengths.
Proposed Framework:
1. Progressive Summit
This event could bring together groups like the Populist Plank and The 75 around key issues such as economic reform and anti-corruption. Michael and Galphar, any input on timing or priority policies?
2. “Claim Your Money” Group
This initiative aligns with The 75’s goal of limiting money in politics. Michael, could The 75’s vetting and training support Claim Your Money’s goals? The Populist Plank’s coalition-building could attract candidates committed to progressive values.
3. Candidate Training
vanidackp, your research on congressional challenges could help train candidates to counter opposition effectively. A science-based approach would provide fact-driven strategies.
4. 2028 Presidential Strategy
To boost progressive influence in the 2028 race, we need a solid base and evidence-backed tactics. The Populist Plank’s broad appeal could foster cross-ideological support, while vanidackp’s predictive work could guide strategic positioning.
By following this framework, we can create an actionable plan that brings together everyone’s strengths. Thoughts on this approach?
Finally, Mestyanek Young’s insights on cult dynamics remind us to value transparency, inclusivity, and critical thinking. Staying open to diverse ideas and grounding our strategies in evidence will keep our coalition adaptable and focused. Let’s work to maintain a balanced approach that encourages collaboration across perspectives.
This would definitely be an excellent start. As the organizational leaders start to coalesce around this plan, one of the first priorities for the movement probably should be figuring out the infrastructure needed to bring the various factions together, give them the support they need for their part of the plan, and start setting fund raising goals accordingly so that such infrastructure is not neglected.
Such infrastructure should be made pretty flexible, because if the movement takes on a top down approach, it will likely be like herding cats. If the infrastructure is designed to accommodate that the various factions among the movement are freely acting peers among peers, success should be maximized.
Thank you for bringing the focus back to the topic as this is a very crucial and important topic to be arguing over cults and nuances of solving the problem.
To me all of these ideas sound like the beginning of a third party and I’m all for it. Here’s my two cents:
Start a council. Not a cult leader but a council headed by someone like Bernie or Bernie himself if he’s up to the task.
Heads of groups like the Populist Plank, The 75, vanidackp with his research insights. makenickraynes’ using initial post as a base could be part of this council.
With that mentioned alone would make a council of 5 attacking the same problem 5 different ways. They could head teams in their respective ideological approaches and bring things together to accomplish our goals at the progressive summit held with a predetermined frequency.
I’m not sure about the name “claim your money” for various reasons but name the entity with a viable name that can carry third party strength. This can be determined via a collective vote of the council or founders if you will which I think everyone here has a viable claim to be a founder.
Using the collective expertise write “the play book” to counter project 2025…I’d call it Agenda 28’…
Once a council is established ( not necessarily limited to 5 ie the founding fathers reboot of America) and the agenda is written then we start identifying potential candidates with the heart and drive to carry out the agenda.
Once viable candidates are identified to help keep the money out of the equation we start USING the news as free advertising for our candidates (this is a Trump playbook move). Trump used the news as free advertising.
November of 27’ we hold a primary and a convention to determine our most qualified candidates. (See the post I made on finding celebrities as candidates) as this is another Republican playbook move. Eastwood- Mayor, Schwarzenegger- Governor, Reagan- President etc
MOST importantly DO NOT be afraid of fighting fire with fire when it comes to dealing with MAGA!!! This is why democrats are perceived as weak and Republicans trample all over them.
****I believe the immediate thing to do is create a thread and invite all of these people to it. The thread will serve as a unifying agent that brings everyone together in one place to bring together the collective plans and ideas to move forward. TOGETHER WE ACHIEVE MORE!!!
This is my framework to begin bringing all of these wonderful ideas and thinkers together. I’d love your opinions on this.
Thank you for your framework @eagle1; I value your focus on actionable steps and unity. However, I want to emphasize the importance of discussing cult dynamics in our conversation.
Both Red MAGA and Blue MAGA operate like cults, with charismatic leadership and an “us vs. them” mentality, which makes them resistant to facts. Understanding these dynamics is essential for effectively countering their influence.
Additionally, any passionate group risks developing high-control tendencies. By being vigilant against groupthink and lack of transparency, we can prevent our movement from mirroring the very forces we’re opposing, ensuring it remains inclusive and democratic.
As progressives, we must prioritize autonomy and equity, avoiding rigid top-down approaches. Recognizing cult-like tendencies will help us foster collaboration and trust within our movement.
These concerns are not distractions; they are vital for maintaining our movement’s integrity. I propose we integrate principles of transparency, accountability, and member empowerment into our council’s structure to promote collaboration.
I look forward to building on a thoughtful proposal while considering these points.
Starting a new alliance other than one with the specific focus of working class issues and gatekept by former Sanderites (and eventually newcomers that prove their tustworthiness…) is going to be a messaging mess. You might as well enlist Harris to give another unburdening speech…
I have emailed and offered my research services if Bernie wants to do a thing, but I haven’t heard back. If people want to support Bernie if he plans to do a something, it might not be a bad idea to email him and offer their support. It might be the kick in the butt he needs to go for it if he is actually contemplating such a thing.
