And a Repub, no less, saying that he doesn’t want it, but the crackpot center cannot hold.
For how many months have I been saying that now?? Oh, since we didn’t get an Open Convention after Biden was justly forced out…

I’m not caught up with what you’ve been saying, patrie, but I did appreciate the video. I can’t even remember anything about Walsh. There’s just so much! I’d never watched Times Radio. I found it weird. It was odd to hear someone outside the country question if it was “extreme” to use the word “fascist.” But the UK has its issues too, and Trump IS the American president. And I don’t know who owns the Times. It’s all so gross.
I didn’t like how JW said leftwing violence is on the rise. He made it seem like “left” violence is rising to meet “right.” It’s hard to keep up with all the gun violence. (What are the best sources for basic statistics?) But I don’t remember hearing about a story with an indisputably “left” shooter.
Also, I didn’t like how JW talked as if the people are undeniably divided. How many even give the people a chance to connect? But JW can look at polls! Trump may have been elected, but he isn’t doing what he was elected to do. If JW wants to be serious about bringing the country together, I’d rather he start talking about the commonalities instead of fear-mongering from a different angle. In many ways, the states are already divided. I think some states would be horrified by how different the “average” experience is in terms of quality of living, food scarcity, jobs prospects, etc.
We’re all being sold this story, but it’s an inaccurate picture of what matters to us as a country — as in the people of this country. I don’t believe the majority of people are primed for a civil war, but I do believe the majority is increasingly vulnerable to the fear and language that would bring that about. I’m wary of JW, not least of which because he said Dems are doing the best they can. I don’t put it past people like JW and the Dem party to think that they’ll swoop in with the “normal” that screwed us all over and tell us yet again, “this is the best we could do.”
We do need better leaders. I agree with JW, but picking one out of fear is not the answer. And he wants us to be afraid too, it seems. There’s a lot to fear. No doubt about that, but if he was going to bother to speak up, he might have considered sending out a more hopeful message — or at least an empowering or guiding one. But like others, he lied! Dems are not doing their best, and people do have more in common than the most “professional” voices would have us believe.
He says some truth, like how he talked about how the leaders are incentivized to create division. But he didn’t make much of a case for how he is any different. Worth watching, but I’m not sure which thought of yours he validated.
