Stupid Technology Ideas

Opening stupid idea:

Yes, because clearly: why would you want to own your furniture when you can rent it??

Same goes for buying a software license as opposed to buying a software product. When a product gets released, there has to be compelling features for its user community to commit to buying it. With licenses, software companies expect you will accept mediocrity on an ongoing basis.

Look at the Windows 11 release: people are begging off it because it sucks (and that happened for two reasons: Microsoft developers got reallocated to AI -slop?- and they failed to fix many things before a FORCED operating system upgrade, and Microsoft is counting on companies to force it on employees because of the Teams snitchware…)

Excel is a great Microsoft app -took quite some doing to get more and more people to pass on it because of a stubborn insistence on bad AI, ads you pay for, and forced updates…
