Taxation without representation

Washington D.C. has about 700,000 residents, more than Vermont and Wyoming and comparable with other states including Delaware, Alaska, and several others.

Washington, D.C. As of March 31, 2016, has a political make up of Democrats 76 percent of the registered voters in the District of Columbia, while 6 percent are registered with the Republican Party.

D.C. is overwhelmingly progressively democratic. We would get 2 new senators and finally representation in the house. Democratic presidents since Clinton have supported statehood.

Despite all of the hurdles revolving around a Republican controlled senate and house I would definitely vote for D.C. to gain statehood. I would imagine that this would be a pressing priority the minute democrats regain control of the house and senate.

Would you vote for statehood for Washington D.C.?
