I have never been a big fan of term limits; what if someone is going a great job for their constituents? But there’s just no good reason for not cutting in a retirement age for Congress and the presidency.
Note that term limits didn’t help with Biden or Trump; they both took the helm when they were non-compis mentis…
We wouldn’t have Bernie if there was a retirement age of, say, 72 either. But he’s an outlier in terms of his mental and physical health. Most politicos start having their brains fall out after 72. I would accept the retirement age being enforced only at the time they are seated (they could run out their term…)
