The strategy to get progressives elected

We need a bigger squad, but more aggressive and is willing to be hated by leadership. In order to do that we need a real plan.

Pick 20 congressional districts. I would go after Blue Dog Democrats for the most part. There would have to be stringent screening so they don’t just cave to the establishment if elected. There are 4 major components to running an effective campaign.

  1. Name recognition: It doesn’t matter how good your platform is if nobody knows who you are. We need to establish our own progressive agenda focusing entirely on economics. We would need various groups to endorse this platform and any candidate who supports it. Those endorsements would boost name recognition.

  2. Grassroots support: You must have a well organized ground game. Whether it’s canvasing, knocking on doors, phone banking, etc. Candidates must have an idea where to canvass. They need a way to get volunteers and make weekly goals of every volunteer.

  3. Money: You need money to run a campaign. There must be a way to raise money through small dollar donations.

  4. Handling Attacks from Democratic Party: The establishment will do everything to defeat populists. Who ever runs for office must have an idea what the establishment will do and have a way to fight back.

Any candidate must have a plan for all 4 issues before they even decide to run. The people who are involved in the screening process would have to monitor their campaigns on a regular basis and see where they are on the 4 components.

Thank you for your input. I’d like to make a suggestion for the grassroots support should support state by state initiatives to pass ballot measures for progressive issues. I live in Florida. Unfortunately Abortion rights and weed didn’t get the required 60% to pass but they were 57% and 55% respectively. That’s amazing the first time out of the gate. Since this seems to be a “states rights” supreme court, and will likely be for many years to come, lets take advantage of it.

@makenickraynes You’re covering ideas already proposed. Announcing report; "The Rational Democratic Initiative"; Please Help!
I have been pitching this to every single Liberal and NDP politician in Canada,as well as all the third parties and independant candidates. I have even used science (academic research and historical context) to predict the outcome of the 2024 US election (Updating Allan Lichtman’s ‘The Keys to the White House’ Indicates a Trump Victory, Kamala Harris Will Likely Win, But Democrats Might Screw It Up) to prove a basis that science can predict the outcomes of human behaviour, and I pitched it again.

The problem is not the figuring out, any idiot that does at least basic research can figure out how progressives get elected. If I draw upon academic research I could even write a report that amounts to a guidebook to getting elected.

The hurdle is getting people to listen, and then, getting them to follow the plan. Heck, I have been pointing out on the forums that I predicted the outcome of the election (Updating Allan Lichtman’s ‘The Keys to the White House’ Indicates a Trump Victory, Kamala Harris Will Likely Win, But Democrats Might Screw It Up), and no one from the TYT community has even bothered to see if I am telling the truth about my NOSTRADAMUS moment.

When I have metaphorically “summoned” a kraken and it’s standing behind the crowd, and I am shouting at the crowd to look at the Kraken I summoned, and nobody looks, doesn’t much matter what you do, apparently, because nobody looks.

If you can figure out how we get around that problem, we’ll at least be able to start something.

How many adjoining states can we get to secede and form 2 new countries? One West coast country for CA WA OR HI. And another for the East Coast to include NY NJ VT CT ME MD Va and the District of Columbia and force Trump to find a new Whitehorse in the red states!!! Maybe then Wi Mi PA and OH would get their priorities straight to connect the great lakes region to the East Coast so MN and IL can be saved too!

@amyns Seccession means civil war.

I think that is where we are headed

No, that is a long way away. The current state will be Trump and the Republicans trying to run roughshod all over the country, and resistance against such action. If Americans can resist until the rest of America wake up to what Trump and the Republicans are, then the election after such a wake-up call will see them ousted. The big problem for America at that point is deciding who to put in charge.

You sound waaaay more optimistic. I depend on Social Security. Feeling extremely vulnerable.

@amyns I understand that, I am on social assistance as well. At times it feels like being punished as opposed to being helped.

Already thinking what country will take people not working on social security that may not exist as a source of income much longer?

@amyns I’m sorry, it’s likely that no one has any good answers for you, because this change in times will have many casualties (metaphorically and literally).

If social security ends, you might want to travel to someplace like Canada on the pretense of ‘going on vacation’. If you can make it in Canada for 14 days, you can apply for asylum. In the case of social security ending, other states might implement or continue some sort of social assistance, but I don’t know what exactly, because I know nothing of US social assistance. You will likely have to ask around and/or research it if the time comes.

Hopefully, because killing social assistance is extremely upopular, even in the US, Trump and the Republicans won’t go that far.

not looking for answers just venting and wondering why anyone thinks there will be any resemblance of a free and fair election in 4 years!

They just realize that the nation will be fed up with Trump and the Republicans that even under a somewhat fixed election, the voters will overwhelmingly vote them out. If Americans succesfully resist the fascism in the meantime, no more fascism as well.
