There’s the debate about whether he was trolling: I thought so, given that MULTIPLE noteworthy Constitutional scholars have already weighed in on it and said: no how, no way. As for the Vance-runs-as-President gambit: that’s just absurd; after this disaster area term, only a handful of full-on cult members would vote for a Pence-Trump ticket, knowing full well that’s what they have in mind to do. Also: even if Vance were to SAY in private he would go along with it -what’s to say he would refuse to step down after he got elected?!
There’s the old adage: “The ship turns slowly in the harbor.” Most people don’t like to admit when they chose the wrong horse. You share the anecdotal ONLINE evidence that pushback is starting to happen in MAGA. And those Town Halls we have been seeing (link…) ain’t all Dems!
Given the shit-sandwich choice in the last election, although the decision to support Trump was a bad one, supporting Harris was not credible either if you were struggling to make ends meet and didn’t want WW III. There was just no good reason to have been reduced to those two ““choices”” -unless you believe it’s all about the corporations, and worker rights and fighting pollution does not matter.
He ONLY has two paths to a third term: an illegal military junta, or illegal State-level voter suppression.
Those are definitely possible, but breaking the law is the ONLY way he can do it -hey; check out the Mulligans he took when he was playing golf! He took more than he gave out in pardons!!
If we somehow make it past this nightmare, the top of the TO DO list is going to be capping pardons to 1,000 per term (that number is based on an average for past administrations, excepting Biden's last one...) As long as you have a nut like him doing pardons all over the place (and it started with Clinton pardoning Rich...), a rule of law can become completely irrelevant...
