I see voter id is back on the congressional menu.
If they are talking about accepting a photo id, in the form of:
- driver’s license;
- passport;
- accredited college photo id;
- present or previous military service id;
- food stamps id;
- medicare photo id;
- a “sheriff’s” or city photo id; or
- any photo id issued by a recognized authority registering people to vote
-fine!
Crackpot or disingenuous Repub: “But that doesn’t necessarily prove you’re a citizen!” Go fuck yourself! That proves who you are, and you can always challenge that vote later if you think it was done by a lot of non-citizens. We are not going to be entertaining your conspiracy theories when a birth certificate doesn’t exactly match on a name.
States should be motor voter anyway -automatic registration if you have a license.
There is no citizenship id for the US other than a social security card, and that is not a photographic one. That was a design feature, not a bug, to stop the likes of Palantir and other Thiel-based ventures from hoovering up more of the personal info of US citizens into a social scoring system. You will not be getting one.
Here’s an interesting idea to force the in-denial Trump/Miller backing Repubs: offer a swap! “We’ll go along with a photo voter id (as outlined above!) in a State (since States dictate voting procedures…) if you agree that ICE in that State is to have no local enforcement capabilities other than to receive criminals turned over by local police agencies.” Sure, they will balk at that -but it drives the message home to VOTERS that you back immigration enforcement being limited to vetting for aliens committing crimes. That’s what most Indie and Repub voters would rather have after seeing Miller in action, that and no open borders. When you say NO photo id should be required -it looks very sus’. Do -I- think not having a photo id requirement is abetting a wave of illegal aliens voting? Of course not! But it just hands a distracting talking point over to Repubs.
I would applaud States adopting the aforementioned photo id requirement
