What would you like to see from TYT in 2025?

Let us know what you hope we will do or what we can do together!

Hi Kara!
Thanks for the link. More than anything, and I hate to say this but I do think it, yall need to bring on more celebrities. They have more social reach than most and I’d bet there are some who would love to come on the show/shows.

Oh and more Bart Kyle. Maybe give him his own show?

Yours truly and sincerely,
RoboBlake

I’m betting there’s a group of TYT’ers here in Austin, Texas (belly of the beast) who would love to have a meet and greet. There are some great venues here!

Not sure if this would work or how to vet people but maybe have a segment series where you offer time /issue discussions with people who are thinking about running for office.

Help develop a bench of progressives/populists to hone their public speaking/interview skills and get media experience and exposure? Not gotcha questions but good faith discussions with activists who are informed on some issues and might be willing to take it to the next level. Maybe we will all learn more along the journey.

I honestly just want to talk to the cast and crew on my podcast or see what expos in Dallas/Des Moines they’re appearing at if any.

Hey Kara , Merry Christmas ! I agree with realroboblake. I’ve mentioned this before , get Susan Sarandon and Roger Waters. They both are great backers of Palestine and anti-war in particular. I sent you an essay on healthcare last week Cheers

So much discussion on what is next. We all fear having Trump plus a republican house and senate. The strategy for Poor People’s Campaign is going to be on state governmets. States are our only hope. So maybe from an Operation Hope prospective we can foucus on states. Maybe get state officials on asc guests. In NJ we have Andy Kim in senate now. Months earlier then expected. So focusing on states and calling them out mught be our best hope for now.

I’d like, if Ana disapproves of a person’s journalism or whatever, that she fully explains why. She largely does that, but, for example, I still don’t know to what she was referring in criticizing Rania Khalek’s work 2 years ago, which pissed Ms. Khalek off and led her to make somewhat wrong accusations. I kept looking on the web to see to what Ana was referring and couldn’t find it. It was probably justified, but I’d really like to know.

Don’t lose Francesca. I’m worried she’s about to bounce.

TYT could launch Populist Spotlight, a weekly or biweekly segment to systematically feature emerging voices and platforms tied to the Populist Plank. Themes would rotate (e.g., labor, housing, drug price reform), spotlighting regional activists, journalists, and organizers. Audience nominations and live Q&A sessions would deepen engagement. Alternatively, this could be a standalone show or YouTube playlist, Rising Voices or Progressive Horizons, exclusively dedicated to uplifting grassroots efforts.

It would be kinda fun if, once a week (or a month), the members-only show was dedicated to a Q&A. We could have a discussion board dedicated to it. I also like it when they interview different people.

I was just thinking of this…

Reframing Town Halls as Live Brainstorming Sessions

Inspired by Simone Giertz’s live invention sessions, TYT could reframe its town halls into interactive brainstorming events to crowdsource actionable ideas. Themes like strengthening democracy, reducing polarization, or combating corporate corruption would guide discussions. Hosted on platforms like YouTube Live, these sessions would invite audience input, feature expert guests, and use live polling to prioritize ideas. By implementing top suggestions, TYT empowers its audience as co-creators of progress, fostering deeper engagement, grassroots innovation, and collective action to drive systemic change.

Here are a few things I’d like to see from TYT next year. There are dozens of things I like about TYT and I don’t want any of this to sound/be taken too negatively.

  1. More promotion of the town halls.
A re-introduction — for example 30-60 seconds on Tue. or Wed. — to what Operation Hope is. A lot of people in tyt.com live chat seem to not really be sure.
And/or announcing a specific topic on air this week: Come join Cenk/Kara this Wednesday to decide together about X, to phone bank for Y, etc.
This all has been done sometimes on air, but not regularly.

  2. More focus on what progressives and/or populists are a) already doing in Congress (not mostly AOC and Bernie) — what have their votes been? what have they been saying to the press (or silent on), and b) looking ahead to 2026 — maybe a “Calling all progressives” (or populists) to encourage them to contact TYT so a select number of them can be featured, similar to 2016 (or was it 2018)?

  3. More focus on the Populist Plank on air. Maybe taking one week (plus a day) where each day one of the six planks is featured — what it is, why it’s on the plank (polls showing how many voters support it, why it can unite the left, or unite the left and the right, etc.). There were segments on specific Trump bracket items, so Populist Plank segments could work.

  4. Less focus on drama with other outlets on the left. I know TYT doesn’t start it. I understand why they want to address it. But fighting back seems to only be making things worse for everyone involved.
It plays into the us versus them that brings clicks to other platforms, makes the left seem more divided, and turns off some viewers.

  5. Less focus on niche social issues where Cenk and/or Ana disagree with others on the Left.
Like Cenk has said, trans women in pro sports currently affects approximately zero people. If it’s a losing topic a small number on the left supports, imo stop talking about it unless there’s a new news item about it.
Similarly with birthing person. The American people largely agree with Cenk and Ana. The more other outlets bring it up, the more TYT brings it up, and it becomes a vicious cycle.

  6. Keep engaging with dissenting voices, both guests and contributors. Unlike what some contributors have recently claimed, TYT doesn’t discourage dissent, it encourages it. This is a huge strength.

There’s a lot of good stuff this year and from before. And the fact that you’re even asking about this Kara shows how dedicated TYT is to listening to its viewers and doing right by us. Best wishes for TYT to keep going strong in 2025! :muscle:

For Operation Hope; I’d like to see the announcement of a topic for it a week in advance and them letting people know where they can post their stories(here and Discord).

I’d also LOVE to see more Discord interaction on the shows and from the hosts.

“Celebrity Populist” or something funnier

With so much work to do and town halls so short this is a difficult question. I would love to see more progressive politicians interviewed. Crockett has impressed me for sure. Going on what sone others said, celebrity guests. Get Taylor Swift on there. Mark Ruffalo. John Stewart. Now if you could get Trump or Elon omg ill buy popcorn for everyone. Number one of course is just keep reporting honest news. Perhaps we could do one town hall just about what we want for 2025? TYT is the only new i watch anymore. Cyenk and Anna on the main show. John on the Damage Report. Indisputable. Francesca. All of them. We need TYT to grpw and reach more people. People need to know the truth.

  1. Have TYT cast come into these forums from time to time and kick ideas around with us.

  2. Show us how our ideas are being implemented or even considered for implementation because lately we’ve gotten into some pretty discouraging times and the forums feel like a venting platform instead of a true agent of change.

  3. Dedicate some time on the show to some of the great ideas and topics in the forums.

  4. Use the shows platform to start recruiting progressive politicians and spotlight these people on the show. Either celebrities, politicians, or regular people like teachers or others that may show interest.

  5. Interview republicans that show signs of being progressives. Create a friendly line of questioning that would open their eyes to possibilities of supporting our legislative policies. DO NOT make the segment a hostile environment.

For example:

Let’s say TYT is lucky enough to get an interview with Elon Musk… I know we as progressives stand behind Elon’s belief of supporting HB1 visas. Create a line of questioning supporting his stance and give him a platform and audience to support this legislation.

Imagine TURNING someone like Elon into an ally. Imagine someone like Elon rethinking his support for MAGA and financially backing progressive’s because we show him we have more in common than he thought. After all the best way to defeat an enemy is to make them a friend….
