MTG flip?

With the infighting going on in MAGA it’s prevalent that Trump had no plans from the start for Marjorie Taylor Greene. Seems like she’s up a creek without a paddle.

Could it be possible she can be flipped if only out of spite to turn left and start advocating progressive talking points? I mean she’s almost there… Could there be someone that can guide her in that direction? She is a bit of a stretch and a wild card but she goes hard for what she believes in.

Has anyone given any thought to this? After all, the enemy of my enemy could be a friend?

At the end of the day, she has to be evaluated based on her voting (talk is cheap, and she has a big motivation to try and talk her way out of being presently in a Repub minority…). I’m not crazy about her often ill-informedness, but on the issue of Israel enablement she got the memo.

Oh I soooooo agree with you. Just saying she’s like a paper bag floating in the wind right now. And I really don’t like the way she does things but if she’s against what we are against why not take that wild thing and point it in the right direction that will favor our cause?

Hi Jay. Long time, no “see” lol! I hope you are well. Yeah, she is good on this issue, but still an enemy to the Islamic, LGBTQ+, and Black community. Hell, she was talking against the slaughter in Palestine during the same week she posted that pic of the Statue of Liberty wearing a burqa to protest Mamdani’s primary victory. I welcome her company in the fight against the genocide in Palestine, but beyond that…

Do not court fanatics and/or crazy people. You would end up with a better outcome with a bull in a fine china shop.

Don’t forget an enemy to the Latino community as well Tony… Believe me I agree with all of you but I’m not worried about her world views. I’m just floating the idea around as she is already in office, some of her “America First” policies makes sense especially when it comes to cost of living, and social security. Should she be so hell bent on breaking with MAGA she may be convinced to vote for progressive policies. An ally in vote at a distance of course….keep her at arms length but making her feel welcome enough to vote with us.

@tonymac52 good to see you as well… :+1:t4:

This MTG debate is a real good test of Cenk’s recent thesis about aligning with people who held beliefs that were anathema to your viewpoint.

On the policy of Israeli genocide and Netanyahoo, I certainly would not bar her from such a meeting. But for an alliance of Independents? If she wouldn’t fail the initial working class pledge, I think it would be a matter of weeks or months before she would need to be bounced for going racist.

You have to give someone the benefit of the doubt, but nothing says you don’t have to have very limited expectations! (and be ready to turn on a dime against them when they betray basic principles of egalitarianism…)

And I think that has been Cenk’s point all along. Us seeing that her agreeing with US( not us agreeing with her) can maybe even be a bridge that is needed to convince her on some other things as she sits around the Israel/Gaza table(have a beer with them).

Yes!!! I’m not saying let’s fund her campaign or invite her into the fold. I really don’t know if that’s what Cenk wants. What I’m saying is to extend some kind of olive branch to see if she would vote with us even if only to stick it to the administration.

I don’t trust her at all to be honest but if we can get votes out of her while she is still in office as well as others like her … it could be a game changer to reach progressive goals. If she doesn’t she can kick rocks and we can keep it moving but on the chance she does vote with us it could be a catalyst to enact change. This would just be a temporary alliance while she is in office not anything beyond .

key words… Temporary Alliance…

You can say: “on this particular issue, she’s right”.

Hear her stance on DC? It being all the fault of Dems??

The DC thing is a tempest in a teapot because one of the DOGE twerps (“Ballz”) got mugged because he foolishly dressed like he was on his way to a tennis match in an area that was known to have occasional crime…

Not if she supports a DC occupation!

Hindsight is 20/20, and sometimes I can make a bad call; but the fact remains: trust in her would have to be limited to a per-issue basis

I agree 100%

Absolutely!!!

Cenk is interviewing MTG this evening!!!

She’s actually not being combative and sounds somewhat human!!!

Anna actually thanked MTG for introducing new foreign aid funding legislation!!!

An ally if only on the topics….. ?

Wow; the stratospheric funding numbers discussed here could cover tariff refunds, to undo Trump’s blunder grift.

So much for that talking point, Bessent!

Good to see people in congress not just following party lines, we need a few hundred more

She said unchallenged that:

I’m a big believer in eliminating all foreign aid. We shouldn’t be funding foreign countries.

Foreign aid as a strategic way of talking to the rest of the world is very powerful. How do you think China has a corner on the rare earths markets?

Really need to challenge her on broad statements on topic.

It is so tough to take in her hypocrisy unchallenged but to follow her down those rabbit holes would only derail the conversation. Her comments on the federal deficient just grinds my gears. She used it as a justification for reducing foreign aid when her vote could have been the one to defeat the Big Ugly Bill which is a huge contributor to our debt

If there is an event where the discussion is transparency, foreign aid, or justice for victims of abuse, she should be welcomed. But, for example, she is ignorant of how America caused the problems in many Central American states, so she thinks there is no need to provide a modicum of refugee assistance to emigres of those failed states (and note: I said refuge, not a guaranteed path to citizenship; the US could provide minimal food and shelter along with other countries while we figure out a longer-term placement situation…)

I have rethought her bringing in debt relief as a justification for eliminating foreign aid. When she brings that into the conversation she should be told that we agree on the genocide should not be funded with our dollars. To say that it has a impact is a stretch and then redirect her back to genocide. If she remains on the deficit reduction then just say that taxing the rich is the only real way to address debt.

Her people are listening to this too and they can’t be left with the impression that she is correct that foreign aid would have any impact on the debt and they may agree with us that the rich should be taxes.

See? Not to be trusted.

But if there’s to be a strategy session on getting Israel out of Congress or getting to the bottom of the Eptsein files (is that the same thing? we won’t know until we get ALL the financial info in the matter…), I’d still invite her.

This is EXACTLY why a committee would need to vet an alliance of Independents focused on: working class issues, fighting pollution, and throwing Israel out of the US government. What if a bunch of Congress people started running as Independent also claimed they were the true populists? It would be a herd of cats with no synergy. What if they continued to take absurd sums of donor money, from Israel OR mega-corporations??

That’s why it won’t happen until you pull together a vetting committee that will be fairly unbribeable. I would trust Sanders to pick the right people, but it appears he’s not interested (maybe it would be too much heat for him once he sets it in motion??)
