I get working with tucker carlson, mtg and megan kelly when they are fighting for things that are progressive or populist. it seems strange to me to say that the people responsible for those persona’s are moral though when they have shown time and time again to be willing to lie and be only self interested. like corporations the things they say aren’t reflective of actual feelings, they are just ways to maximize power and profit for themselves. when we assign morality to the actors playing those personas based on their words it ignores the truth of what they are. also it ignores the more interesting question, why do these people think it will be in their personas best interest to do the right thing in these few matters and tell the truth. it feels like cenk is projecting his own honesty and decency on them. i was told to have faith when i don’t understand. can someone help fill in what i am missing?
There’s so many facets to this situation first as a Jersey guy like Cenk living in a multi cultural a fairly even divide on political parties you gotta deal with all kinds of interactions and as Ren Hoak said “it could be good, it could be bad” better to be cool take the first hit before unloading as folk’s love talkin’ sh!t they can’t back up. As an aspie I personally have to be the person in the dark corner of the party checking folk’s out before interacting so I don’t get played and I’m pretty sure Ana and Cenk know who these people are so unless some TYT viewers get real stupid and hateful we should gain their’s that have a few brain cells to rub together as republicans make things worse for them daily because the lies are wearing thin.
happy to hear criticism as well if anyone has that
I have not followed TYT closely recently, but I did see a sharp criticism of Ana for her defense of Carlson on some key point (I think the critics were pointing the absurdity of Ana’s comment that Carlson leaning into zionism shows he is not is anti-semitic? I can’t recall 100%.) In general, I have seen her seem to be on very good terms with him.
My view is that it’s one thing to be on decent/cordial/professional terms with a fellow broadcaster and thought leader, but it is another thing to be more friendly than needed. I have been embarrassed for Ana that she seems star-struck at times when she is dealing with Carlson (and the possibility that he will run for President). Does she not understand how much damage he did to our country with his dishonesty about the 2020 election? I can absolutely respect both Cenk and Ana for holding the door open and maintaining a professional and cordial attitude toward our fellow citizens who may want to discuss various matters. It is part of why I am a member. However, I do not think it is necessary to be so friendly with someone who has done so much damage. Surely there is some sort of middle ground that could be forged?
With all that said, I do want to add that I do think it’s useful for TYT to look at who could be the Presidential candidates in all parties in 2028. We The People must have good multiple candidates to choose from, from all parties. It’s good to see Ana on top of the question of whether Carlson might choose to throw his hat in the ring. But does she have to over-extend herself to do this?
yes! i agree.
they always center the conversation around whether we should work with these people to achieve our common goals. which i honestly think 90% of people see clearly that we should. I think a lot of people have honest and understandable worry when we start defending their character or treat them like honest actors though.
people signed up to work together on common goals not go to bat for tucker carlson. i would need so much evidence to believe someone like tucker or mtg was an honest actor though. I dont understand what cenk and ana could have heard that would convince them.
