2025-07-30 Operation Hope – Discussion & Decision Thread

RE: Volunteer Reconnect + Populist Endorsements Momentum

PURPOSE OF THIS MEETING

After a few weeks away, we’re reconnecting as a team to catch up on momentum, share updates, and take clear steps toward growing Operation Hope’s reach—especially around candidate endorsements and onboarding new members.

CORE TOPICS

1. Kara’s Updates

  • Volunteer orientation progress
  • Outreach tool preview
  • Plans for Kara’s video updates

2. Operation Hope Business Cards

3. Team + Member Updates

  • Brief update from Jaden (Outreach team)
  • Space for others to share quick wins or needs

4. Populist Plank Endorsements

  • Current signers (Ro, Nina, Dan O.)
  • Strategy to secure more
  • Assignment brainstorm or invite coordination

DECISION POINTS

  • Should we launch a new public-facing campaign thread to crowdsource more endorsement targets?
  • Who wants to help coordinate social posts or follow-up messaging for new endorsers?

COMMUNICATION REMINDER

Not in the private Team Hope group chat yet? Drop a comment here and we’ll add you. It’s our space for midweek check-ins and fast coordination.

CONTEXT

We launched 3 core volunteer teams on June 11 (Editing, Social Media, Outreach), and this call builds on that energy. We’re now entering the “acceleration” phase: more outreach tools, more visibility, more candidate pressure.

Here’s the summary from the meeting:

Key Takeaways

  • Volunteer Orientation Launch (In Progress):
A unified orientation for Rebellion PAC and Operation Hope is nearly complete. Led by Kara Eastman and intern Akshay.

  • Outreach Tool Activation (Pending Final Edits):
TYT will soon launch a NewMode tool on tyt.com to let people contact lawmakers directly about the Populist Plank. Awaiting minor adjustments from NewMode.

  • Weekly Internal Updates:
Kara will post video briefings each week in the Operation Hope discussion board (see the “Video Updates” category). Useful for staying current between meetings.

  • Local Outreach Materials Ready:
Operation Hope business cards are available. Volunteers can request cards via this form.

New Member Spotlight: Jennie Gage

  • Former Christian nationalist turned feminist activist and atheist nonprofit founder.
  • Host of Life Take Two, reaching 2–8 million/month via social platforms.
  • Open to podcast collaborations and possibly interviewing Cenk.
  • Strategic Value: Jennie connects with audiences outside TYT’s traditional reach (e.g., ex-evangelicals, political de-converts). Members agreed to pursue more partnerships like hers.

Platform Visibility & Branding Issues

  • TYT Visibility Gap:
Cenk hasn’t been consistently mentioning the Populist Plank on-air. This reduces awareness and momentum.

    • Solution: Generate “hooks” for him to promote—e.g., tool usage stats, new endorsers, visible impact.
  • Messaging Overload:
Volunteers noted confusion between Operation Hope, Rebellion PAC, and the Populist Plank.

    • Recommendation: Use umbrella framing or simplified narratives to reduce confusion and increase engagement.

Endorsements & Enforcement

  • Confirmed Plank Signers:
Ro Khanna, Nina Turner, JD Scholten, Dan O., Richard Ojeda, Randy Bryce. More local candidate endorsements are needed.

  • Enforcement Discussions Begun:
Members emphasized the need to avoid symbolic endorsements. Ideas raised:

    • Volunteer tracking and follow-up matrix
    • Public endorsement “bounty” system
    • Conditional fundraising tied to candidate commitment

Next Steps & Upcoming Meeting

  • Next Meeting:
Features Cenk Uygur. Volunteers are encouraged to:
    • Attend and engage
    • Bring questions and ideas
    • Report progress on endorsement outreach
